Trainable Stealth Started by: G_man on Feb 06, '14 09:17

Ok so I know this has been spoke about before and I am not sure why nothing has been done about it but here is my idea. I had a brief discussion last year with enkindle I think so I think the coding maybe be possible but I'm not entirely sure but here it is anyway.

As we know everything on this game is trainable apart from stealth so I have thought up of an idea to bring it in without the need for additional features. So my idea is that your stealth stat increases by each pickpocket obviously not by a huge amount but by tiny amounts each time. The only way to increase the stealth stat would be to pickpocket people outside of your own city otherwise we would all just be running round pickpocketing out own city which wouldn't change the game play.

By doing this it would bring in mugging more as you would know people are trying to increase their stealth stat and you would want to mess up their timers so they can't pickpocket/fly/shoot in the near future. In regards to officers either they won't count to the increase in stealth or they have a chance of mugging back.

I think if your stealth is higher than somebodies info stat then you stealth and it isn't then you don't but then have a percentage chance of the stealth not working like when we wackback but maybe more of a percentage. If the info stat and the stealth stat are the same then it will just be random in what happens, at least this way you won't know if you will definitely stealth someone.

Feel free to pick this apart or improve it or just completely trash it.

Long been a fan of utilizing the art of pick pocketing to increase stealth. I believe it has been brought up a few times in the past, and I'm glad to see it brought up once again. If you can train info, you should be able to train stealth. It should require a lot of hard work and dedication, but the end results would be well worth it.

But if everything is trainable then it won't matter what answers you choose at the start, because everyone could end up exactly the same.

I like that there are stats you can't train... it means you actually have to make a decision as to what is important to you as a character or person when you are trying to choose which you want.

DeadlySin apart from stealth what other stat is not trainable? No they wouldn't end up the same as everyone goes at different speeds and not everyone will be willing to sacrifice their timers if they get mugged they may not be able to fly for the next IA or they may miss it because their attack timer has been reset.

Since I have an avid hatred of being pickpocketed and I know people do it to annoy me. I hate this idea. Yes hate is a strong word but anything that makes it harder for me to mug jerks will always be a bad idea in my eyes.

That is just my opinion though. Take it or leave it.

G-Man I agree with DS here. First of all, the idea of pickpocketing people outside of your city to train this would not matter. Should I want to train stealth in this manner I can easily create a network from people I know and trade pickpockets with them so we could both increase this stat. There would be no risk of being mugged at all.

Secondly, we do make that choice to sacrifice certain things when we choose our answers or we leave it up to the luck of the draw so to speak if we roll the dice.

Third, you don't want to give the likes of me the chance to become 100% stealthy and have 100% info and with a gun that can take out an IWP. Or, imagine if this had been the case when I was an IWP on info proing people :) The other side had a hard enough time keeping up with sneaky me :)

I would like there being stats you can't train more if there were more stats you couldn't train. It just being stealth which is untrainable really doesn't make sense.
