| GAME CHANGE: Auto open and close of districts | Started by: Squishy on Feb 06, '14 17:23 |

Districts will soon open and close automatically depending on the active ranked population of a city after a certain set of time. This system will be on full autopilot based upon simple statistics of the city. There will be a durden district event when opening a district, there will not be an event when one closes. |

Glad this is being left to set numbers.
A Durden Event? As in the usual NPC event? |

The normal NPC event when we open/close a district - the use of durden maybe was poor wording on my part :) |

Just out of curiosity, if it's based on numbers, what happens to say, a Crew leader who is new, setting up late in a district who doesn't have enough active members to suit the mathematical quota? Do they simply lose their status as a Crew Leader?
Are they moved unbeknownst to them, and without the permission of the Godfather Council, potentially resulting in poor consequences for all involved? Just curious questions from a low man on the totem pole :) |

I'm hoping izzy will confirm, but my guess is that an occupied district will not be fucked with |

So then, this statement... depending on the active ranked population of a city after a certain set of time. is inaccurate? Or is it just worded incorrectly? I only ask because then, in theory, sending 1 person to set up with a couple hands and letting them build in his/her own time will force a district to stay open. Just concerned that this won't serve it's purpose, which I am sure is to allow the game to grow and/or shrink along with the user base, if allowed to run that way. Again, I'm confident that you guys have put it to the test and thought about much of this beforehand, but in case you didn't. :) |

Once live, every so often it checks to see of the open districts, does the city as a whole have the required criteria to support the amount of total districts available. If not, it closes the empty one. if it does, the empty one stays open on the assumption that someone will move there from one of the over crowded parts of the city. It also does the other side of the coin. Every so often, it checks to see if a city is over the criteria to open a new district (up to 5 districts per city), if so, it spawns an NPC event and upon completion of that, opens the new district. |

My first reaction was "meh". But once I saw how it worked, and though about it for a sec, i think this is a great setup. |

I must admit, i had been a little curious and may have found a higher level of interest if occupied cities were closed and godfathers reduced to don's on closure of a city due to the inactivity. I know is difficult, depending on the time judged and other factors but a godfather having a choice to remove one to keep position, or demote to don and be split among remaining districts as leaders would of been very interesting. |

Is this still in effect? New York has been quite full for months without a District opening up.

NY does not meet the criteria to open up more districts. New districts will never open up if there are unoccupied areas of the game, or if all of the qualifications are not met. |

Understood. I thought it was city based not game based but figured the reason a district wasn't opening was due to the vacancies in PHI, LV and LA. |
