The LCN way: La Cosa Nostra keeps a low profile because attention is not wanted. Gangs want attention, clowns want attention, not La Cosa Nostra! LCN thinks and worries about the family like soldiers on the battle field worried about their buddies because they depend on each other to servive. La Cosa Nostra our thing is not a code or a club! It the way of life. When dealing with each other LCN has laws/rules that protect the life regardless of position. The problem comes when when we lose focus instead of looking out for all members of the family. Gangs are for the individuals wanting more. There is money to be had by all, but when greed enters in and honesty dies; we fall apart and rats show up. The oath we took is not about words; it's about you, him, and me. LCN members are not a dime a dozen. Members are a special breed, selected, tested and proven. LCN members started because civilian laws designed to protect the people, did not protect the poor and helpless; so soldiers, honored men, came forth to protect and serve their villages. LCN is not afraid to stand up and speak up for what they believe in. LCN is not afraid to admit when they are wrong and fix the problem with peace first. LCN is always willing to help members of LCN. The neighborhoods will always be protected. Widows will always have a home and food to eat. The stand up LCN, will always command respect. Titles are given and position respected just as in the army. Respect is earned not like so many dollars but by actions. LCN kills only to protect the village, the family, any other reason brings attention. La Cocsa Nostra is our thing the right way! |

There are irregularities in every language. Just as it is acceptable to precede words beginning with H with an "A" or "An" (An hospital, A hospital), as well as many other examples that could be given; it's acceptable to use "La" in some cases where it is not strictly necessary in Italian, in order to bring emphasis to the phrase subject. :D |

Ok you guys should learn some sicilian! lol jk but I know It says "La Cosa Nostra" because using "La" in that context mean "This" So they REALLY mean "This Thing of Ours" Readem and learn something new everyday! yay! |

Actually, that term was given to the mafia by the first head of the organized crimes division of the FBI in the United States around the middle of the 20th century. It has no roots in organized crime, and from my understanding based on interviews with imprisoned mobsters, it is "Cosa Nostra" where the mobsters are concerned. Research is a beautiful thing. |
