There is an action which every family head/crew leader has/should require of their associates. Be Identifiable. What I mean, is that in the event of a loss of leadership/sponsorship, you can still be identified with your family. Normally, this is in their "quote", or on their suit somewhere. In this way, a family doesn't need to be broken up if their CL perishes. I have more of a problem with "allowing them to find a family" than anything else lately. They still have a family. In this case, it wasn't from a war, or a rogue, or a takedown. Don -JD- was taken from us by the gods for breaking our natural laws. So, what SHOULD happen? As far as I'm concerned, De La Ghetto still exists. There shouldn't be any "finding a new family". You have 1 family. That's all that matters. So then you ask "Well, how can they still be a family with a dead CL?" How about the RHM? Isn't he supposed to step up when the CL dies? Or some upper-structure member? It almost sickens me that people would jump ship that quickly, when their own lives aren't even in danger! The current CLs gave the associates time to "find a new family", but instead, it should be "find a new leader for their family". The family isn't dead!!! The leader is, but that shouldn't mean everyone abandons New York. I say, when a leader dies, a member of the upper structure SHOULD set up in his/her place. I mean, think about it. This is the mafia. All you have in life is your family. Would you give it up so easily? |

There has certainly been a lot of wisdom that has risen from this conversation. As for my individual beliefs, I concur with KingOfOnePercent that a mass mail would probably be a more fitting way to provide this news to each individual family. That being said, I think that part of the reason that this policy of immediately producing a thread to protect a fallen leader's members has persisted in due to force of habit. With a great deal of our lives, in all ways, our path is derived by what we've done before? Why did we did most of the actions that we did today in the way that we did them? I would submit a lot of it is due to the reason that that's the way we did them before. Similarly, why is a thread always necessary when a leader falls like this? Because that's the way it has happened before, and that is what the people expect to happen. It is the road of least resistance- it's a lot more work to change a habit than to go along with it. A sweeping change to this policy would require a concerted effort, and the acceptance of inevitable bumps in the road. |

Good point there Ares and I have to agree with you there. If the #1 dies it's time for the #2 to step up. But you know how it works around here. You're not authed you're dead and if the current leaders don't see the former RH capable or something else then what can he do? I actually like the idea that the family lives on like the Guardian Chausseurs and Don Guardian - this was such a case and it worked out well. |

So? Why should it matter what the people outside your HQ are doing? As a RHM, shouldn't your FIRST concern be your family members? If the current leadership doesn't like him, he can still sell his HQ, and an "authed" leader can set up there. Either way, the first concern should be the family. THEN worry about the political side of it. |

If they don't follow the rules they shouldn't always have to be killed for it. There are other punishments. I think people forget we're in the mafia. The bottom line of our business is making money and we've all heard about how important family is. If it's really important why kill a family member for killing someone who isn't making any money for a family? It all boils down to politics. People are more concerned about doing what's best for the community instead of doing what's best for their business and family. I think Ares said it best when he said, "The first concern should be the family. THEN worry about the political side of it." |

| "I believe it is resonable for heads of families to have their own rules between themselves about what should happen, and thus put those rules into play within their HQ's. Should anyone be found preying on the innocent and abandonned? Well they will die suddenly and to their knowledge, unexpectedly" | |

| I'd have to agree with Mirage on this one. Especially clipping a so-called untouchable friend of ours, a mademan for killing a former associate of a dissolved syndicate. As a boss, one has to look after their family first. It might be embarrassing, but it goes with the privilege of being a made guy. | |

i Have to go with Area on this. You don't bail because the head honcho bit a bullet. Someelse steps up or gets stepped up. When that happens, If we are concerned with the 'political' not shooting them side, current Family Heads, need to sit down and talk it. Can former right hand step up now or not? If not, who can take role in the family as interim Family Head until Former RHM is ready fill that void. ~just one man's opinion i guess..well two...^^ |

Please tell me we have not arrived at that place where we are protecting our enemies, who will likely look for any chance they get to rise up and seek revenge. -i the the beraved crews of a cl that has died from a war must reorganize themselves.elect a new cl or something like that maintaining thier family bloodline in the process.this could also prevent the transfer of wrath coming from the rival family to the family that will take the orphaned crews under thier wings. |
