| An unexpected interrogation | Started by: Marietto on Jan 09, '09 09:02 |

It had been a prosperous day so far. Marietto had made himself a great deal of money. He had stolen purses from old ladies, he had succeeded in dealing a vast quantity of quality narcotics, and he had managed to take out a rather hefty loan to help fund it all. A very prosperous day, indeed. He was very happy with himself. He was living at last. No rules. No boundaries. The possibilities were endless. No longer was he a slave to the world; he was his own master. The master of his own destiny. He was in the market. Wandering around with no plan. Looking at the junk antiques on the stalls; the fruit and veg; the meat. Hungry, he decided to grab some food. Quite literally, if truth be told. He was too far in to stop now. Paying for stuff? The idea sounded absurd. He was a criminal. He didn't pay. He took; took whatever he wanted. The world was his oyster and therefore so too were its pearls. You only live once, and he was going to make damn sure his life was worthwhile. Why else bother? As he was waiting for the man behind the stall to engage in a customer, giving Marietto free leave to snatch some bread, a man sidled up beside him. "Hey, how's it going?" The man asked. Marietto turned to face him. He was very fancily dressed. A smart suit and hat. He had a somewhat regal look. He must have the blood of royalty. And a dark royalty at that. Marietto was surprised that a man of obvious wealth and power had, out of nowhere, approached him and asked him about his well-being. "Well, it's going awesomely, I guess," Marietto replied. He was rather confused. And surprised. Perhaps the man wanted something? A favour? Some cash? Actually, probably not the latter. By the look of his clothing, he no doubt had enough money of his own. "Tell me; what you could offer my family? And, please, explain in full.". Now Marietto was even more confused. What was he talking about? Why was he asking this of Marietto? It seemed like a strange thing to spontaneously ask of a complete stranger. "And are you new to our way of life, or are you of a family line?" The man continued. "Well, I suppose I'd be a good earner? I seem to be good at this money-making business. And, no. My father and his were somewhat crooked. But I haven't seen or heard from them in a long while." Marietto only said this because he had no idea what else to say. He was rather thrown by the whole thing. The strange, dark regal-looking man glared at him in anger. "I said explain in full. Not some lazy, no-effort response." Marietto was starting to get angry. Who is this man? What does he want? He approaches me, out of the blue, questions me, and complains that I'm not answering to his liking? What the hell is going on? "Well, I'm sorry, but I don't really feel like saying any more. I don't even know you." The other man huffed angrily, turned about, and disappeared into the crowd, leaving Marietto nothing but oblivious as to the whole event. |

If the man wants to stay oblivious to the fact that without a crew he will get shot. Then thats his perogative. In my opinion, a man that has made three public speaches and countless replies to other's speaches, is somone that knows what they are doing. Now he mentions that he has had an offer to join a family and blatenatly denied it. This, I beleive, is an obvious example of why the 48 hour rule should be obolished. You can be as sweet and niave as you like. But this is the mafia. Thats not how we work. |

Having been a witness to the entire episode, I think that Marietto was a little nicer in his depiction of the man as well. Trying to help someone would be to ask: "How's it going? Can I do anything to help you get started on your career here?" Not to approach them saying "How's it going? What could you offer this family I'm in?" Usually that's something you say in response to a lowly civilian or thug seeking shelter- not to someone who you were just engaged in a conversation with about as something as dull as the weather. |
