| RonMexico...what is this referencing the 'old way' of authing where people discussed and took time deliberate careully who the best choice would be? I have been around many many years, and believe me, there has never really been any in-depth discussion on auth, and my family was in power a few times to have a say in it. You want the truth? Authing is easy because 99% of you people are dumb and your applications are thrown out the window the second they are received. The auth pool is very small, and though a new player gets the call every once in a while, don't expect everyone to sit back and deliberate for hours as to who the new boss will be. Personally, I am all for just saying fuck 'em all and authing my best friend, because I would trust him not to fuck me over in the future. Authing is not a democratic, nor fair decision making process. It is usually one leader giving the idea of democracy but always pressuring for their own choice, which means more power for them in the long run. | |

Got_Milk wanders in and notices the heated debate. He steps forward to put in his opinion. If I win personally i will probably give my auth to a friend and perhaps take it back once I feel i am ready. That is if I am allowed to do that. On the case involving weather this is a good idea, I think so. It will promote the streets and will give some potential leaders a chance. After all if the CLs decide that this idea is bad they can easily just ask the person to step down and if the person refuses he will just get dumped in the river. I personally am excited to see who will when this competition, whether it is me or not, and to see what the outcome of this auth is. Feeling he has said enough Got_milk meanders away from the debate. |

When I first walked these streets this morning I heard this conversation and wondered to myself what the hell is happening here. But then throughout my day I pondered the issue some more and came to a conclusion. What many people expect from an auth is a street presence and I don't mean someone who has found a voice once then have got a new suit. I mean someone who is recognised for being active in our community. This can be a rather hard thing to do, there are only so many topics that can be battered to death so something like this competition is good if not a little different. Just because they are tasks set to find out who is the best ninja amongst us it does not mean that they will detract from whether someone has the ability to lead a family. It can always be quite evident who has that ability from the way they speak in our streets and their actions. There have been times in our past that those who have been noticed more are the RHM for their ability to come into the streets rather than the leader themselves. As to whether this is the "right" way to do things or not is not mine to decide. Infact it's a well disputed point that there has never been an actual method to chosing the next auth. Many times auths have come from within families who are not known to the community but are known to their family. Is it really that bad that here we have something that is a little different to what we've all known in the past? At least look at it this way, this is definatly not going to be an instance where crewleader A is authing a coffeeshop friend. |
