What did we start as? I began my life of crime with nothing, never asking for anything along the way. I started by stealing purses just like all the rest, and now I'm a Capo with one of the strongest Mafia entities alive, I co-run a successful periodical business, and I couldn't be happier with how well I've done. Who do I owe it to? My dad? Fuck no. He didn't do jack shit. He jumped into this world, gave it his all and died. My dad was worthless to me. He didn't leave me a cent. He and his whole family got destroyed, and left me nothing. No one along my bloodline has left me anything. I owe it to my hard work, and my boss. That's all I have, that's all I need. So, now you're probably asking, "Why does any of that matter?" Well, because I have become disgusted and disappointed with what has happened to this world. My bloodline doesn't go back nearly as far as others around me, so I can't say how bright and shiny our society used to be. But I was able to look back through "The Street Archives" in the Detroit Library, and read about the great leaders to own cities in the past. As I flip through page upon page, I continue to encounter speech after speech of great mafiosi speaking from their hearts. They had passion in what they said. They had passion in their family. Once again, "Why does any of that matter?" Because look at our world now. It's become a chore to find someone who is passionate about their family. I can give quite a few examples of this. First, thugs that enter this world with a metric fuckton of bodyguards and money everywhere. Where's the loyalty in that? How can you possibly pledge to protect someone when you would rather have your own protection than your boss's? Second, IAs/48 Hour Rule. Too many of our people have fallen for this rule. I have no quarrel with any leader in particular, but if you will kill a Made Man in your family because he popped an UNSPONSORED gangster, where does it end? I can understand rule-breaking. I can comprehend why a person should be punished for breaking a rule. Such as, "taking their gun", the incredible feature the gods have bestowed upon us to magically remove a member's gun from their hands instantly. But, to kill a Made Man, a member of your crime organization, someone you have worked with for weeks, earned you money, served you loyally, seems.... disgusting. After having a little talk with KingOfOnePercent (a.k.a. Sprozza on I.R.C. Ave), I was enlightened to the "ways of old". Apparently there was a time when a person actually DID care more about his leader than him/herself. He described how men would give everything they had to their leader, in any effort to serve him. They were passionate. They were intense about their boss. They were respectful, and didn't take shit from anyone. They were the foundation of what we have today. Now look at us, we've grown lazy. I need a solution. Hence my venture to the streets. So, how can we ascend from this pit of apathy and return to a time of mobsters that are not only passionate about their family, but unselfish in everything they do for their boss? It's really not a chore, as you said, to find someone who is passionate about family. I was born in Detroit and raised around the mobsters who live there. I'll gladly take a bullet for my boss or anyone in the family. People with a "fuckton of bodyguards" aren't selfish. They didn't arrive in our cities with enough money to hire a team of them. Someone obviously gave it to them. When I see people who are protected I think it's a good sign that a family takes care of their own. Our business isn't perfect. It never has been and never will be. People will always find flaws in it. I doubt a rapture will change anything other than the names and faces of the people enforcing the same rules we have now. |

I agree with everything you have said. The old days seemed like better days. The problem is, we're mere mafioso's. We have no power. This is not a democracy, it is a dictatorship. The CL's run the streets, and the Godmother run's the CL's, and above that, city hall controls all. We can bitch and moan all we want, but I'm sad to say, it won't change anything. We have great papers such as the "Bloody Tissue", stirring up controversy on the streets. And great speakers, such as KingOfOnePercent questioning the morals of our cities. But all this is just for discussion. The only way to change things is to do what the mafia does best, take out the big guy's. I'm not suggesting it, there's no need anything that radical, but its the only way to have a change like that. |

The one thing I see that raises question is Made Men being killed by their own boss for killing an unaffiliated criminal. For some reason that does not make too much sense from the way things are "supposed" to be. Cosa Nostra has it's rules, and it is usually best to run a murder by the boss (in real life) but if a made man kills an unaffiliated criminal, chances are the made man won't be touched. That's the point of being a "made man" you are above everyone else...you are considered to be the cream of the crop in the criminal under world and everyone else is below you. The loyalty is gone because it doesn't seem like there's much of a tradition and lack of education/culture amongst the mafiosi. Many people don't understand how things actually work. I myself don't have much of a "bloodline" at all on here, but I do know that loyalty is the key to Cosa Nostra's survival. Many don't realize even how "Morte Alla Francia Italia Anelia" came to be and what it started from. In fact many don't even know what the word "Mafia" means. |

Sir, I consider myself a religious man, but the heavens rarely provide a solution to the problems of the world. If you truly wish to see this thing of ours change its priorities, then you have the potential to make it so. Oftentimes, I also find myself disenfranchised with certain trends in our business. That is unavoidable, and I would submit that it is true to some extent at any point in history. You are a man of honor, Ares. Do everything you can to reshape the world within your power, but I don't believe the gods would ever step in in such a dramatic fashion. I wish the best of luck to you, sir. |

I tried your number but they tell me it rings out these days, so I have decided the best course of action is to visit a psychic to get my thoughts across. You see thugs with a fuckton of bodyguards for a reason. Some people have made an oath on blood that they will look after the offspring of loyal members, members who have put their body on the line for the sake of the family. You wanted loyalty, you should have given more thought to the situation of these people and realised that the loyalty was there you just didn't understand it. Your question about made men, and the spate of deaths we see. These are loyal hard working people, yet, they broke rules that were there for all to see. They took oaths to serve their leaders and uphold the standards that their leaders hold dear. I can hardly say its suprising that a leader will shoot them for breaking the rules. If they broke one whats to say they wouldnt break more?? |

If only MORE could be done than killing them. When a lower level associate fucks up, it's fine, it's sorted out quickly and with the minimum of fuss. When it's a member of the family? When it's someone who the boss has given their button for all the world to see, someone in whom he (or she) has bestowed the high honour of allowing them in, to becoming Made Men.... well, that's a slap in the face of the leader, it harms the family image and reputation and it shows everyone that the person concerned cares more for the number of kills, or that quick rush of the shot, than he does about following the wishes of his boss. Death is too harsh, you say. Death is not nearly harsh enough, say I. |

| I believe when the picture of the patron saint of the family is burnt, the inductee does in fact swear that should they ever disobey the rules of our thing, may their souls burn for ever in hell just like the saint picture. | |
