GAME CHANGE: Block Gambling | Started by: enkindle on Mar 03, '14 17:33 |
There is now a page that allows you to block gambling (Casino, Dice, Poker, Lottery). You may add time to your block in 24 hour increments, up to as long as you like. Once the block is set, it will not be removed until the time runs out. You can find this page in the menus under Profit -> Gambling. |

Yeah I agree with LittleDoll, it'd be nice if we could choose what we block. I'd rather not block everything, just the dice. |

I absolutely love the idea! Although I agree with the above two comments, I would rather just block Dice and a few games from the casino for the 24 hours+ and be allowed to buy lottery tickets and play poker. |

Just added a 200 day's block to gambling. I'd say this is a pretty cool feature :)

I would personnaly add a feature to the blocking so that you can unblock too. For example it would cost you a credit to remove a day.

This feature is built for those who do not have the self control to walk away from gambling. Once you press the button, the pressure is off and you know you cant play any more. If you could simply remove the ban, then it sort of defeats the entire purpose of giving someone who lacks the self control the ability to block themselves effectively. The entire process works because once you click it... its done. There is no going back. |

Money could be taken out of the game by thoses that do not have the self control. $500k - $1 Million or even 1 Credit to remove 24 hours of their own ban.
Sometimes circumstances of peoples self bans can change, They could come into some extra money they wish to gamble with, Get drunk, Or even in Cristiano's case get stupidererer.
Having a cost for removing a ban, altho might not be the most practical or most uses feature, I can imagine some would actually do it, And where is the harm in removing more Dollar/credits from the game... Its whats needed? Amirite? |

Absolutely stellar, LOVE this addition. Hopefully I'll remember to use it before losing all my money!

So, rather than gamble your money and have a chance at losing it, we solve it by making it a guaranteed loss of money? Seems counter-intuitive based on the reasoning for establishing the blocking in the first place. I would suggest, however, that perhaps allowing Crewleaders to reset their members' blocks would solve this dilemma of not only extending bans too long, but extending them across characters. If crewleaders can reduce or reset the block, it accomplishes a few things:
Just a thought. |

I'm pretty sure this change has been made to prevent potential problem gamblers losing lots of real money through credit purchases and subsequent losses. The option to block yourself from gambling on online sites is now a legal requirement for bookmakers to offer (at least it is in the UK), so I would guess this decision stems from that reasoning rather than an actual game play perspective. |

The block interval is 1 day per click of the button. If someone blocked themselves for a year and later decide against that, they should not have clicked it 300+ times. |

Unfortunately, it seems that this blocking feature has killed the lottery... |
