The GRHS Society Started by: RourkeyRourke on Jan 12, '09 19:42
A distinguished man in a giant sombrero pulls up to the nearest street corner. He builds himself a pyramid of mafiosos from the passers-by and climbs fifty feet to the top. Satisfied with the purveyance of his kingdom around him, the man begins to speak.

GRHS

A lone acronym with the meaning of a thousand generations.

GRHS

A mere mention of this "word" conveys the utmost respect for the recently departed.

GRHS

The new way of life.

In the warmth of a local coffeeshop known as #badass, Acute, KingOfOnePercent, and I founded the GRHS Society. Our intentions were to rid the world of the trite, overused messages left so often in funerals and shouted at those who pass away before our very eyes. We reviewed the current phrases and debated on them for several hours.

RIP - serves a purpose but is just not quite strong enough

RUP - old and hackneyed (another excellent brainchild of myself)

Ripples - past its prime and quite juvenile

Arr Eye Pee - ridiculous and insulting

I proposed a new phrase. It was one so catchy that it not only flowed off the tongue with easy, but also resounded loud enough for the entire world to hear.

GRHS

God Rest His Soul

Also used for "her" soul if necessary, this hot new phrase is quickly catching on with mafiosos across the world. I urge you all to get in on the ground floor and adequately show your respect for the dearly departed. Remember, this isn't only a word, it's a solid remembrance and hallowed phrase. Use it carefully or The GRHS Society will introduce themselves to you.

The man climbs down from his pyramid and shoves a few mafiosos at the base, toppling the entire pyramid from the ground up. As he walks away, you merely hear him muttering "GRHS" under his breath.

An equally as distinguished yet somewhat cuter man with an even bigger sombrero appears from the Chamber of Cuteness

Indeed it does roll off the tongue, much like a well refined grape. I have always attended the funeral of those I held dear to my heart and offered a RIP. It was only an hour or so ago that I had to say goodbye to my beloved That_Guy - And I felt something more was needed, something more striking and heartfelt.

"God Rest His Soul" displayed it all!

Wtf do you call this Acute? You tell me you are poping out for milk and i find you conversing with this delinquent, wearing silly sombreros.....

You are right, it does slip off the tounge. I look forward to using it at your funeral Acute.

How YOU doing!

She grabs Acute by the balls and storms off through the crowd yelling at him

for certain occasions can it be changed to GRYS like god rest your soul if your crewmates with the mafioso?

After meeting with the rest of The GRHS Society, we have determined the only proper response is GRHS.

Agent_47, you may stay with whichever choice you wish, but be warned that you will not be perceived as "trendy" or "cool" going forward.

Life is not a game. Treat it as such and you may not live long.

But animosity aside, let's get down to business.

Agent 47, though unable to express it, seems to feel the same way I do. So let me put it into words as I see fit. Funerals have been a bit of a pet peeve as of lately. I hate to beat a dead horse, but apparently no one else notices it's dead. The flies and decomposition just doesn't register with some people.

If you ACTUALLY care that someone has passed away, they deserve more than an acronym. There's also power in silence, though few realize it's influence. I dunno about you, but sometimes the death of someone just renders me speechless. But Acronyms are just plain lazy. It does not show respect. I don't believe it qualifies as "disrespect" but nonetheless, it just appears to me as a back-handed insult. A way to make someone believe you care.

Now, I'm not normally one to be flexible, but for the sake of argument and entertainment I will say that an acronym partnered with an action, such as a flower or a prayer or a tear may be acceptable. But to walk up to the crowd of upset funeral guests, tell the deceased "rip" or "rup" or "grhs" is not a showing of your sadness.

Rourkey emerges from his secret The GRHS Society meeting place in order to address the latest homeless man who has wandered near his toppled mafioso pyramid. Rourkey's sombrero glistens in the sunlight as he begins to speak:

I'm quite appalled, good sir, that you take the opportunity to shit on my latest venture so blatantly.

Quite obviously, you haven't done your homework before attempting to confront The GRHS Society. You also are not wearing a sombrero as is custom these days. Your own movement's figurehead, one "Agent_47" who "shares your beliefs," blended into Abeo's funeral with nothing but a brief "RIP" uttered from his lips towards the dearly departed. Apparently he does NOT feel the same way you do, but is simply a pawn caught up in the trite ways of our predecessors.

Quite obviously each mafioso in the world is entitled to his/her own opinion and each may choose to grieve in their own ways. The GRHS Society is trying to free all of us from the shackles of outdated, overused phrases and provide those saddened funeral attendants with a brief way of expressing their condolences. While a normal "RIP" or "Rest In Peace" is a passing phrase to the dead, a "GRHS" or "God Rest His Soul" is a more powerful way of beseeching the Gods to care for those souls that will hopefully reach the afterlife. It is a helpful tool for those merely passing by the coffeeshops in order to lay rest to their friends. How could something so beautiful be considered "back-handed" or an "insult?" Like words from the mouths of babes or songs from the angels above, GRHS is as beautiful as one thousand rainbows.

If I am very close with the mafioso in question, I will on occasion drop off a few flowers or say a few extra words at the gravestone for a fallen friend. I feel that a GRHS helps me with family members I am as familiar with or top mafiosos from other families who undoubtedly deserve at least a little something at their funerals. If people were willing to stop by my funeral with nothing more than a GRHS, I would not be appalled, but would in turn be HONOURED by their commitments.

I urge you to watch your words more carefully in the future, friend. The GRHS Society is always watching....

Rourkey casts his sombrero into the crowd and blows kisses towards the lovely ladies of The Riot! before departing into the sunset.

You misunderstand me. But before I explain, allow me to apologize to Agent 47 for throwing him in the middle. Like a zoo keeper in the monkey cages, he's just going to get shit thrown at him all day.

Secondly, let me state that I was not attempting to shit on your venture. If you were trying to make money out of it, I probably would have.

While I don't believe that the words Rest In Peace are outdated, I will agree that we require more out there. My point changes course from yours in that I believe we need more than words. More than actions. To me, we're trading one fad for another. And correct me if I'm wrong, which I'm sure you think your sombrero will prove as much, but fads are unbecoming of mobsters. Suit and Tie is about a fashionable as we get.

Howey watches in content to the short speech, and steps forward to speak

"I feel this is a very good idea, and I would say itis better than just saying R.I.P."

Howey steps back and heads off to work, as he walks starts to chant GRHS,GRHS.

Pfffffffft

my patented 'UFNTDMQMDF' is far more catchy!

The same handsome man rebuilds his mafioso pyramid

Ladies and gentlemen! Our braintrust has just created another fancy acronym you all may use in your grieving.

MHRIPFM

May He Rest In Peace Forever More

I have to say, it is a good idea, although I prefer to state a few words at the funerals of my friends and family members. If it is someone that I do not know, but am passing by and notice their funeral, I will state a small rest in peace, but nothing more. But again I believe you guys are trying to change what is now taken for granted by mafiosos everywhere, and I think it is not a bad idea.
