Very early on Thursday morning, Phantom takes a step outside his apartment building, Hayley still sound asleep inside. Viewing him from a distance he looks anxious, like somethings on his mind. He reaches into his pocket, and puts a cigarette in his mouth. He fumbles with his Zippo before successfully lighting it. He takes the first heavy inhale of the day, laced with smoke, and blows it out. Leaning back against the handrail of the steps going into his building, he stops a group of early morning party goers who haven't slept yet. Something's been on my mind. He starts up, without waiting for them to stop or acknowledge him. I'm sure you've heard they're legalizing gambling in our seven cities. The bill passes later today. The group of five twenty-somethings is astounded that the man stopped to talk to them about this. He continues as a couple more people gather. The streets are empty, Phantom does not expect a large crowd. Well, with new bills come changes within our community, a kind of butterfly effect from one person to another to another. One change can change something so distant we don't even know it exists until it's too late. Every time something new passes or is introduced to us within our fine cities, I can usually pinpoint, at least to some extent, what is going to be affected by its addition, or in rare cases, subtraction. Well, for once ladies and- Phantom realizes people are leaving, rolls his eyes and continues. For once, I have no idea what the addition of these casinos will bring. I'm curious of what you all think. Will we ever have casinos owned by lowly Gangsters? Will we ever see a "casino takeover"? Will winning in casinos be used as a way to handicap an enemy? Will we see people go bankrupt because of them? Will we see people get richer than life because of them? Those are just the questions I ask myself sometimes. Please, share with me your opinion and I will share with you my own. Phantom takes a drag off of his cigarette and looks at the distance between the embers and the filter before flicking it into the street filled with a light dusting of snow. He leans back and waits for someone to speak. |

Louis Gato turns, pleased to hear something worth talking about, as the cugines he met in the bar know nothing of thinking for themselves or others, they're just drunks. He wavers slightly, still drunk, and steadies himself on the handrail, raising his hip flask as he talks. "I think signore, the question is 'Will these casino's be a valuble asset?' Something that the family cannot afford to loose, something the upper structure of an organisation, the people who will always have thier sons and daughters working together, will make sure they always have control of them?" "Will these casino's promote the idea of a family sticking together, because of it's assests, should the boss die?" |

I doubt we'll ever see casinos owned by lowly gangsters. Especially those without a family, for obvious reasons. Once a family has a certain amount of money, I don't see what piling that much more on top of what you already have accomplishes, with the exception of maybe large groups of bodyguards protecting the family heads. People have gone bankrupt from gambling since dogs figured out how to lick their own balls. Any properly run casino shouldn't bankrupt itself, or the family! I will be very interested to see how involved the entire family can become in running or managing these casinos, however. |

| a casino owned by a family will no doubt be an asset.how well would they manage it will depend on how the family values its asset.and speaking of assets i think manpower is a great asset too.which brings me to the subject of the "lowly" tag attached to a gangster.now i'm not being sentimantal here and perhaps this should be discussed in another topic.just want to remind us all that we've all been through the gangster level and to be called lowly in my opinion is somethig that could hurt an ego.gangsters as they may be but as long as they are part of oa family i wont be calling them lowly.after all,thses gangsters are also depended upon by the big bosses when it comes to running family business. | |

A good topic, sir. Will we ever have casinos owned by lowly Gangsters? I highly doubt you'll see anyone under Made Man owning a casino, except in rare circumstances. They cost too much money for an unsponsored person to afford, and a family would be unlikely to entrust its casino to a 'lowly gangster'. Will we ever see a "casino takeover"? I'm sure they'll go hand in hand with city takeovers. To the victor go the spoils, and all that. Will winning in casinos be used as a way to handicap an enemy? That's an interesting idea. I certainly think you'll see a few people try it, and hope to hit a big jackpot. Gives everyone something to do during war, which is nice. Though, you'd probably just end up giving your opponents money. So maybe not. Will we see people go bankrupt because of them? I don't think we'll ever see someone go bankrupt, unless they're mismanaged or terribly unlucky. How many casinos have gone bankrupt in Vegas? I've certainly not heard of too many. Will we see people get richer than life because of them? See the above answer. Thanks for bringing this topic to the streets, sir. |
