Hayley fired up the engine of her car and pulled out slowly. Look at Nicky she nodded knowing that he wasn't happy about her going by herself, but that she knew she had to do. "Draven hang in there. This will work." Pulling out from the HQ she squinted against the sun the was sinking on the horizon. Making a right turn she pulled out slowly as she headed towards the butcher shop. Letting one hand rest comfortably on the briefcase of money next to her she looked up into the rear view mirror. "Am I being followed?" The Don watched as the car pulled off the main street and into an alleyway. "Calm yourself Hayley. Just remeber what you thought up. Stick with it." Lighting a smoke she pulled up slowly in front of the shop. Sighing she opened her door and stepped out slowly. Walking up to the shop she carefully looked around. "I know he is here somewhere watching but where?" Knowing she was talking to herself she shook her head. Looking down at the black leather case Hayley sighed as she leaned it up against the door. Peering in the butcher shop she saw no movement so she knew that he couldn't be in there. Only thing that was visible from the door was a counter with a glass case full of assorted meats. Her shoulders sunk as she realized she had no clue as to where he was. Heading back to her car she happened to glance over to the left and saw someone that looked vaguely familiar. Turning her body she wanted to see him fully but he was gone. "Bingo!" She knew now where he was waiting. Turning back to her car she opened the door and slid into the seat. Lighting another smoke she took one last glance at the money, and then smiled to herself. "Don't think I'll be that easily tricked." Hayley knew her streets better then anyone else that had ever traveled them. Smiling at that thought she started to drive back to her HQ. Making her right turn into the parking lost she paused briefly. Seeing a car blocking her from her destination she stopped. Slowly the other car crept besides her. The windows were to dark for her to see in and she grew edgy. Pulling her gun out from beside her she watched as the driver side window was opened. "Hayley here you go." Lucifer had pulled his car out so she could take a less known car back to the money. "Damn it Lucifer. I told you to wait till I got inside." Hayley shook her head as she put the car in park and threw the door open. "Yeah I know but still that would have taken an extra 5 min. Time is of the importance right now remember. Even you said so." Lucifer smiled at her happy that he was able to cut some time off. "Grr.. Yeah I know. I know.." Don Hayley walked over to the other car as Lucifer opened the door. Getting out he shook her hand. "Good Luck." Lucifer said as he hurried over to Hayley's car. "Oh you might need this." Lucifer handed her the notes she had taken from earlier. "Thanks! Don't forget ok. Back Alley 10 after his pick up time." Hayley sounded as if she was scolding him as she put the car back into gear. Ready to finish this and get her family back together. |

Draven sat up in her chair pinned down by rope as she finally came to. Opening her eyes slowly, she saw nothing but blackness. Taking a deep breath in she felt the cold that surrounded her bare down in the back of her throat. Coughing suddenly form the shock of the cold air, she gasped and attempted to move from her bindings that dug furiously into her wrists. Unable to move she screamed out and listened as her scream echoed as if she was in a metallic box. Suddenly a light flashed on, and she squinted against it. A large man stood before her in a bloody apron smiling. "Now how is our ice princess doing?" His laughter was sickening to her as she finally was able to focus her eyes that stared blankly at the man. Glancing around she realized she was in a large fridge. "What do you want?" Draven hissed seeing her breath float through the air. "Oh pretty.. I am sure you know it's not you I am after. You are after all just bait. Yet I don't think I'll let you live through this either." The mans eyes were as cold as ice as he stood before her holding a large carving knife. "There's no way you will get away with this. NO FUCKING WAY!" Her voice echoed against the metal walls as he face hardened. His laughter bellowed again causing Draven to get even more angered. "Now what do you think you can really do to stop it?" He took a few steps closer to her and reached out suddenly. His finger tips grazed her cheek as he smiled. "Your sick you know. Really sick." Draven's lip trembled from the cold that engulfed her entire body. "Sick you say? No. Just well..." The evilness in his eyes burned into Draven's mind as she thought hard against his words. "Maybe a bit!" Looking down at his watch he stepped back from Draven and flicked the light back out. "Hey!" Draven's voice was unheard as she heard him shut the door. "Damn it." She yelled and began to think of what she could remember. Thinking to herself the last thing she could recall was waking briefly by a hand smack her across the face, and then a gun going off. Puzzled she thought harder. "The rag. Damn it." She inhaled deeply feeling the sting of cold in her chest. "Is this really where I'll die?" Shaking her head she tried to get that thought out of her head. |

Driving towards the setting sun, Hayley knew that everything was going to be ok. Her nerves were on edge, as she found herself furiously tapping her nails on the steering wheel. Just before reaching the butcher shop Hayley glanced down at her watch. "Right on time." Again a smile formed across her face knowing that she would soon see the assailant. Slowly Hayley drove by the shop. Expected to see the man from earlier pick the money up, she was taken by surprise that the front door of the shop opened and a large man picked up the briefcase and then disappeared. Trying not to draw attention to herself or the car she continued down the street. Puzzled she had to rethink her plan. She could no longer just follow the man to his car where they would take him by surprise. "Shit. What do I do now?" Her own voice in her head rang out as she thought quickly. Seeing the entrance to the back alley she decided it was all or nothing and slowly turned into it. Slowly pulling around the side of the building she stopped briefly and stepped out of her car. Walking closely to wall she peered around the corner. Seeing a black car parked just behind the back door of the butchers she watched closely. Fumes from the exhaust floated from behind the car and then into the air becoming invisible to the human eye. The back door partially opened as the man that she had seen in the front appeared. Not wanting to be taking by surprised she looked behind her and back to her car quickly before resuming her survailance. "What is he doing?" Hayley's thoughts tired to figure it out as she saw he toss the brief case inside the car threw the opened passenger side window. "Damn who is driving." Hayley's eyes no longer moved from her spot as the man turned his back to the car and shut the back door quickly. Pivoting around he reached out for the door handle to the car and suddenly was met with a fury of bullets. His body flung against the brick as he slid slowly to the ground. Immediately the car took off with a loud scratch of the gears. Stepping from behind the Hayley took a mental note of the plates just before it rounded the corner. Feeling a tap on the shoulder Hayley froze. She knew she had let her guard down and was fixing to pay for it. "Hayley?" Hearing his voice, She spun around quickly and smacked Lucifer across the face. "You of all people know not to scare me. For the love of god!" She tried not to show her relief that she was glad it was just him. "Owww... Damn!" Lucifer rubbed his face as he watched Hayley pull her gun out and walk towards the butcher shop. |

Approaching the door she looked down at the lifeless body and began to hope that they would still find Draven somehow. "Open the door." Hayley pointed at it as she watched Lucifer give one tug on the door handle that didn't budge. "Hmm.." Lucifer pulled harder a second time and the door gave way against the flimsy lock. "Hayley wait here." He had know idea of who or what was still inside, and had a feeling that Hayley would be safer outside. "Lucifer. Once it is clear tell me. I need to see if I can find something that will let us know who that driver was." Hayley watched as he slowly went in the shop. The air stunk of rotted meat as Lucifer crept slowly through the back room. Boxes lined the walls as he looked around carefully. Reaching a small walk through he rose his gun up a bit further seeing that the light from the back didn't flow into the front. The sun had sunk behind the buildings and it was even darker as when he stepped into the front. Shadows danced around him as the red from the exit signs bounced off the walls. Adjusting to the dim room he realized no one was around."Hayley! It's fine." Hearing Lucifer Hayley walked in and nearly knocked over a few boxes that were just to the left of the backdoor. "Damn shit.." Regaining her balance she furiously kicked the box and watched as a mouse scurried out from one that was beside it. Looking around the back quickly she walked to the front where she had heard Lucifer's voice trail from. Flicking on the light she began to search for anything that would help her out. Digging through the paperwork on the counter she found nothing as she flung it to the ground. "There has to be something here. Where's the safe?" Hayley walked back towards the back in search of a safe that maybe held a clue. Lucifer poked around a bit in the front and found a set of keys. Picking them up he heard them jingle as he looked around to see what they could belong to. Not seeing a lock box or anything under the counter he turned behind him to the fridge and saw a lock on the door. "Now why in the hell do you need to lock a fridge?" He mumbled to himself as he placed the key in to the door and slowly opened it. Engulfed in blackness he let his hand run along the inside of the wall till he felt a switch which he flipped up causing the light to flicker on. "Holy shit! HAYLEY!!!" His voice rang out as stood in the doorway. Draven sat before him slumped over in the chair seemingly lifeless. Not wanting to move he waited for Hayley. |

Hearing Lucifer yell for her Hayley ran up to the front. "What is your problem?" Hayley reached the fridge door and stopped as she realized why he yelled. "Draven.." Hayley pushed Lucifer aside and hurried to the chair. Taking two of her fingers she felt the side of her neck and took a step back. Raising her hand in the air she smacked Draven across the face hard. "What the hell did you do that for?" Lucifer rushed and grabbed Hayley's arm just as she made contact with Draven's face a second time. "Don't touch me!" Hayley glared back at Lucifer as Draven moaned slightly. "Get something to untie her now." Lucifer looked around hurriedly and saw a cleaver sitting on the shelf next to Draven's chair. Picking it up, he quickly cut the ropes that had dug into her wrists. Draven's limp body fell forward suddenly and Don Hayley reached out just in time to catch her. "Lucifer take her." Hayley let her go as Lucifer scooped her up from the chair. "Lets get her to the car." Lucifer nodded as he followed Hayley out of the shop. Hastily, Hayley slammed the door as the three exited. Hayley turned and gave one last glance at the shop and sighed. Draven's breathes were calm and steady as she looked like she just slept in Lucifer's arms. Reaching her car Hayley opened the passenger side door and Lucifer carefully placed Draven in the seat pushing her to lean back in the seat so she wouldn't fall over. Hayley looked over at Draven and sighed. "Damn it girl." Pulling off from the alleyway the carefully rounded the corner and drove back to the Angel's HQ. Reaching the parking lot she smiled to herself as she saw Nicky pacing back and forth awaiting her return. Placing the car back into gear she looked in the rear view mirror to see Lucfier right behind her. Opening the door she motioned for Nicky to help. Confused Nicky walked over to the car wondering what Hayley could possibly need help with. Seeing a figure in the seat he quickened his steps and opened the door slowly. Reaching in he pulled Draven out of the car and sighed. "Hayley will she be ok?" Hayley smiled at him and walked in through the doors. Seeing Raoul she motioned for him to come to her. "Here." Hayley scribbled quickly a number on a piece of paper. "Bring me back my money." "Yes Don Hayley." Raoul quickly left the hq dead set to get Hayley back her money. |

Hayley stood at her window and waited as she watched the sun come up. Slowly it broke across the horizon revealing a pretty glow that began to over take everything that stood in it's path. Hearing a knock at the door she moved back to her desk and sat down. "Come in." Raoul entered quickly and set her brief case on the desk. Smiling he shook his head. "Well it's all here. I don't know who that guy was but he is no more." Chuckling to himself he went to leave so Hayley could put her money away safely. "Good job." Hayley tossed him a strap of twenties quickly and laughed as he stood in awe. "Keep it. Someday you might need it." "Thank you, but I just did my job." Raoul left quickly shutting the door behind him slowly. Rising from her desk Hayley decided to go see how Draven was doing. Rising from her chair she tiredly walked out of her office. Walking down the halls it seemed to be a bit busier then normal to be so early. Many were already busy heading out to get a jump on the day. Hearing doors open and shut she shook her head. "Another busy day. Hopefully Phantom isn't to mad I just took off. I am sure he will understand." Reaching Draven's room she quietly turned the knob and entered. "Hmm.." Hayley was happy to see that someone had cleaned the place up. Every paper and picture was put back into it's place. Shrugging Hayley thought to herself who would have been able to remember where everything was at. "Oh well." Approaching Draven's bedroom she pushed open the door. Poking her head in she realized the room was empty and didn't even step in. "Maybe they still have her at the doctors." "Don Hayley? You looking for something?" Draven sat on the floor still sorting through some papers. Looking up at Hayley she smiled and waved. "Damn it girl.. Get your ass back in bed!" Hayley laughed as she shook her head. Looking down at Draven, Hayley saw where the ropes that tied her still left impressions across her wrist almost like a burn mark. The color had still not yet come back to her skin but there she sat sorting and getting everything straightened. "It's ok. No worries.." Draven still shuffled some papers about as she finally stood up. Grabbing on to the table next to her she used it to help her balance herself. "Ok. Maybe your right." Laughing at Draven, Hayley smiled. "Good to have you back. I'll be in my office if you need anything." Draven nodded and watched as Hayley left. Draven walked slowly back to bed and smiled realizing someone had placed a new red rose in a vase next to her bed. |
