| Yes respect is earn't, but if someone does not respect you because you have no respect for them, how can you possibly expect them to earn a greater esteem of respect from you? There has to be a bottom line of respect, otherwise it just doesn't work. Without respect there is chaos. | |

Sir I was curious of what other believe for I have seen high ranking people of or world snubed many times. I may had it has been done openly on the streets. In the days of old, my grandfather would have been shot or done the shooting without any question from even a CL. |

I really love the attitude some of you people have, thinking the world owes you something - you have to earn my respect. Who the fuck are you? Really, who the fuck are you. I've always given everyone the benefit of the doubt. People need at least that to prove themselves. There is potential in everyone to succeed, to do well, an open mind and optism helps nurture those seeds. I see it as an investment, and being an arrogant dick is counterproductive in the grand scheme. I'm not ruling out tough love, as I'm not a softy by any means. Either way, that's my piece. |

I would think the proof is in the character of the individuel. If I was a Capo would people pay more attention if I was to talk on the street. All in all I would like to think so. |

Well when it comes down to it. I don't speak to hear my own voice. People can take what I have to bring to the table, or leave it. As far as the so-called rank is concerned, the only two that really mean anything are mademan and godfather/mother. The rest are really associated with status and prestige. Intertwined with mademan is the core of our thing, being straightened out, getting your button, becoming part of the family and the zenith of course - Godfather, running your own city and even influencing the others. |

I agree Sal! Made gets you the respect from the community because that no other rank get you other than GF. Being Made means that your family has accepted you and believes that you represent the family well enough to wear this coat in the streets. People expect more from Mademen. Leader may even have arguements from time to time about who other may have Made in their family and if it was a wise decision or not. That show the power of the position and the respect it demands. It rank under is just an opinion, doesn't carry the weight. Unless you're part of the Flying Pig linage as we've seen. |

People who disrespect the rank of those that are Made Man and higher to me are the lowest and I try not to give them the time of day. But what about the disrespect the given button holders do to each other and the lower ranking ones of us. Do they need to show respect also?? I think in some cases being polite is at least a curtuious thing to do. |

| To be honest I'm surprised this topic has caught our communities attention this greatly. If you've been here awhile you know that the respect topic comes up quite often if you're new I'd just say try to expect having to earn it from your fellow mafiosi. I think we can all agree though that respect is something you have to earn. Best way, work hard for your family not yourself and keep your nose clean. | |
