A small band of people, the most influential mafia bosses and those who they chose to bring along, attend the meeting, called by the contraversial man who brought up 'The Mafia Coalition'. They go in and sit in comfortable wooden chairs in a meeting room. Standing on a platform stood Thehawk, ready to begin his talk.
"Hello, everyone, it is an honor to be here and to meet with you. As you probably don't know, I called this meeting to discuss the ever-growing problems in our structure. Detroit has been named a no-shooting city, save for those whom pay the million-dollar fee. Friends die every day, some whom I shared many drinks with, and some whom I never even spoke with, but none-the-less remembered. I would ask that the bosses agree with me on this, and to declare a Cease-Fire on this day, and for the coming years. Today, on January 25th, at 12:48 AM Central Standard, I would like to make this Ceasefire Day, where Mafioso of rival families come together in friendship."
"This may seem odd to you, but, back during World War II, British and German soldiers met on Christmas, under no treaty, and ate, drank, and laughed together. If those men, whom were mortal enemies, could do it, so can we! We are business partners, in this big corporation!" |

We have constant discussions on the streets about how our world has softened up....
Not only is this a "soft" idea, but its a random day. usually stuff like this happens because of a significant event. I could see this happening on christmas day, cause we all want to be with our family and friends. No one wants to get their hands dirty on christmas. |

I understand your point of view. But I completely disagree. Ceasefire? If there was a war that happened to fall the day before this day, are we all expected to stop because of it. I will not. I don't expect anyone else in their right mind to do so either. War is war, if there was a reason for it, it should be executed to precision.

Listen, it's 11:59 and you take a shot at someone. It's midnight and it's "hold hands and love one another day". Do you really think that that persons bodyguards will suddenly holster their weapons and buy you a drink? If they do do you really think that thier boss won't place the muzzle of his pistol at the base of their skull and decorate the bar with them before proceding to finish you off? Get real!
Of course I'm just speculating here. After all I am but a simple business man and would never even dream of engaging in such acts of overt criminality! Still, from what I've heard about this thing of which you speak, it seems more likely that such an event would be used as a ruse to allow some power-hungry buck to take out an unarmed and unsuspecting rival. |

Benjamin is right. War is War. war does not wait. We have recently seen a lot of blood shed on our streets, its not a pretty thing. None of us are happy with wars. But it is something that has to be done when needed. We all wish we could live in peace, even for a day, but its not possible in our line of work. You either get use to it, or crawl up in a corner and wait to die. Our society has gone soft, but if a ceasefire were to ever happen....city hall might as well issue everyone helmets and padding to protect us from falling when running from the cops.

I think it's an interesting idea. It's certainly not unusual so I'm not sure why there's so much shock and surprise in the suggestion. In many small-scale wars there are cease fires all the time. Perhaps a chance to talk about peace, or just a chance to catch your breath. A chance to pick up your dead and wounded, and a show of mutual respect despire the fact that tomorrow you will again be combatants.
It's not possible to live in peace for one day in our line of work? I disagree with that. We've lived in peace for quite a long time on these streets. We can't do it for a day when we are back in more violent times? I think we can. |
