A continual "gray area" for MR, I'm looking for some administrative clarity on target accounts. Obviously they are not allowed. Read here: http://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread/17641 Per the clarification of the Gods: "[A] target account is an account created for the sole purpose of being killed by a friend or acquaintance." Most recently in the case of user "HappyPerez" they bore this in their profile:
Would this account be considered a "target account" since it is clearly given to one specific user to shoot and kill at their convenience? Obviously this person sent a few messages in their short time in this world, but I fear this is where the line becomes blurred. Let's say I die and sign up a new account on MR. I create an account, login after a day, and decide I don't wish to continue living. I find a friend on IRC to come wack me. Isn't that essentially a target account or would that just be considered "helping out a friend?" I think it's a weak excuse, in my opinion, seeing as there is obviously a "retire" button or even a "suicide" feature should you have a gun. If I run this scenario multiple times, casually finding a few different people to shoot me because I'm simply "over it," shouldn't they be executed as being part of a target account ring? Where is this line drawn before "helping a friend" is not relevant and "target accounts" are realized? 1 kill? 3 kills? 20 kills? I understand we are all striving for an equal playing field and I would like to have administrative feedback if at all possible. |

I do not believe it would be considered a target account, mainly because, what if the person just wanted to die and start over? The user could have contacted DravenLynn, asking to be shot. If it were to happen on multiple occasions, I may question it. But for one incident? I don't believe so. |

I think you need to read the text target account is an account ****created**** for the sole purpose of being killed by a friend or acquaintance. An account that was created to look around mafia, is not created for the sole purpose of being killed. |

In the case of DravenLynn, its legit. If its a continued habit, its not. If the purpose of creating the account was to boost the wack of another, its not. If someone signs up to check out the game, doenst like it, and has their friend kill them, its ok. When they are on their Umpteenth "check out", there is no other way to view it than a target account. We use our judgement, and we ask that you use yours. If we specify a hard written rule, then you guys will be sure to go right to the line, or, find ways to get around it. Leaving it up to judgement means it puts the power in your hands, and in ours to make a judgement call based on the individual activity. |

And this, fair Fu, is where I require clarity. What if there is a pre-arranged agreement for a user to shoot me each time I reached gangster? I may fanny about and post willy nilly all over the boards, yet each time I reach gangster someone like that Premeir fellow shoots me on the spot. Would you consider that a "target account" or is that merely "helping a friend?" |

| I believe this was fine. (Which makes it fine as I am supreme overlord of MafiaReturns.) And I'd go with Squishy(He is assistant Supreme Overlord). Not to mention the more than a few hours worth of work went into the character. | |

I think there is a difference between deliberately creating target accounts for yourself, and shooting someone who asks. If a person does not want to stick around, do they have to retire? I think its fine to ask someone to shoot you. The fact that you are asked by someone to shoot, does not mean you are doing anything wrong. And my guess is that people put auth'd in their profile, as to not have questions asked, especially if they are under 48 hours old. And as people have mentioned, it would be different if it was a continuous thing. But a one time shot, not a big deal. |

I do appreciate how you decided to use me as an example in this before even ever asking me about it first. I could have clarified it without you attempting to accuse me of using target accounts. I have no problem with the death of Mr. Perez, please don't take it as an attack on Ms. Lynn or the such. I was merely using the most recent instance as an example. I can understand your point, Forky. Creating a line of "3 kills for a target account" would most likely lead wack-happy users to use the "2 kills and under" policy as a legitimate excuse. I appreciate the swift response by two administrators to my question and apologize for taking you away from the coding of user-owned casinos and multi-user crimes. |
