He whistled to himself as he walked. He nodded to a fellow Mafioso, tipped his hat and said good day. Nothing. He looked to the street corners - typically filled with people looking for an opportunity to climb up on the soapbox and speak. Nothing. He saw another Mafioso running by. "Good D..." He couldn't even get it out before the Mafioso was gone. He looked up to the sky and saw the clouds rolling in. "Looks like rain." He thought to himself and continued strolling down the street. And, yes, Brick was strolling. But he wasn't carefree. He didn't like seeing the streets completely empty. It made him nervous. Was this the calm before the storm? Were people just too busy in their HQ's or at the local convenience stores, or stealing eachother's hard earned cash to walk the streets and talk to eachother? He shrugged and continued to stroll, whistling to himself, as he made his way to his soapbox. He climbed on the shoulders and stood as high as he could. He could see miles. Some say he could see Russia from his spot on his soapbox. He just figured he could see all the bald spots of the Mafiosos passing by. Good afternoon ladies and gentleman. I came out here today just to engage you in some conversation. These streets seem a little quiet today. I was wondering if anybody knew what was going on. He thought to himself: "why am I always the last to know." And proceeded. I love this community. My family has roamed these streets for many years. Many years - wow, it has been many years. And I have to say - there has always been the debate - are we active enough in the streets? Should leaders be active in the streets? Should people be active in the streets in order to 'earn' the opportunity to run a family? So I'm interested in hearing some of the answers to these questions, but I wanted to make a comment. This particular young group of Mafiosi have been very active in the streets. It's just nice to see a community coming out here to engage in debates. It's what the streets are for. And I'm impressed with the participation we have had in most recent times. Which is why I'm so nervous today. It's so quiet. Why? Can all Mafiosi come out and play? That is all. |

BB lights firecrackers and tosses them under Brick_Pollitt's feet Here's some noise for ya. He then leans back, sparks up a joint and watches Brick_Pollitt do the OMFG shuffle On a serious note, every now and again, there become times when the world goes through a little Silent Treatment. Although it can become rather boring walking down the street in complete silence, I find it useful that to resort to hallucinogens. They work rather well. BB begins swiping in the air with his hands as if he was trying to catch something You see that size of that fairy? Bitch almost got pixie dust in my eyes! He notices the confused look on peoples face and decides to play it smooth Ok so yeah, it's just a time when people need a bit of a break, and let their voices settle. I wouldn't go as far as to say that there is a storm brewing. Just a little time of silence is all. BB hit's his joint again and smiles Besides, I hear new conversations in the streets almost on a daily basis. I don't think it's really that quiet, just slowed down a bit is all. |

Obizzle speaks up as he hears Brick_Pollitt finish. Being active in the street's has nothing to do with what kind of mafioso you are. I've alway's believed in giving the right person the chance, I guess I got mine so I can't complain. But I do know this, i'm not very active in any of the streets or the coffee shops for that matter. Even still it don't make me any less loyal or valuable to the family I am supporting. I earn good and I work hard. That's what should matter. Pat's Brick on the back and walks off. While walking off I look at Buddah and see him swatting like crazy. You okay Mate? What you swatting at? Laughs and walk's off as Brick tells him a fairy. |

After listening closely to the other responses, Cypher stands up to give his "2 cents". Street Activity, eh? It's an ironic question to be honest. If the leaders were silent, they wouldn't give you an answer.. for.. why.. the leaders are silent. I find it to be rather sad.. as the 200+ active members of our community don't speak up as much as they could. Perhaps these people may visit the streets if someone of power made an example...? As for another point, "Do we need Street Activity?". No offense to you Mr. Pollitt, but this question annoys me. Our world is entirely based around what people say, and if no one says anything... What does that mean for our world? Takes a seat and waits for others to speak. |

ponders the comments of the two who have crossed the path of his soapbox. Interesting comments. And I appreciate you guys coming out here to discuss the topic. You two have very different takes on this issue. One of you is saying your worth is defined by how hard you work at earning money for your family. The other says your worth is defined by how much you speak. I think you both have very valid points. I think your worth is defined by all of the above. I think it should be defined by how you earn for your family and your ability to bring forth clear ideas to the community. And, of course, there are other values that matter - your loyalty, honor, etc, etc. And Cypher - you were right. "If the leaders were silent, they wouldn't give me an answer." And there you go. But, alas, our leaders are busy as this world is growing. |
