Slowly drawing up on his three wheeled unicycle, KingOfOnePercent hardly looks his happy go lucky self. Though not quite angry, the look on his face suggests he is not quite happy about something. Dismounting with a triple-piked backflip, KingOfOnePercent turns to the assembled crowd and begins to speak; after the oohing and aahing has died out. He also has a drink of whiskey, for good luck. Ladies, gentleman, those of indeterminate sex; I bring important news from Las Vegas on behalf of Don Acute, who unfortunately is busy organising some harebrained 'things' you will hear about in due course. After several mails and telegrams on the matter, wee felt it prudent to take to the sterets for the following announcement. It is with great regret that, at this time, the Las Vegas leadership must not accept DrTran's challenge of authing some fresh young faces. We feel at this time, it would be totally unnecessary and a knee jerk reaction to recent events, at best. After a great deal of discussion, we decided on this despite the fact we have a number of deserved candidates for a family in our ranks. Indeed, it may seem barmy that auths are not being made despite having able and willing candidates, but in our eyes the bad currently outweighs the good. Firstly, and perhaps most obviously, our HQ is not nearly full. For us, it makes no sense to split and dilute the feeling of family that courses through our ranks, especially when any new auth made will struggly desperately to get members. This brings us to another point. The number of Mafiosi that walk the street barely support the number of HQ's in construction. Barely. A saturation point has been reached, and more auths will lead to more half empty HQ's across the nation; something I'm quite sure none of us want to see. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, we will not be press-ganged into making auths. Just because a speech calls for it, it does not mean we have to react with undue haste. Just because other families make auths, it does not mean we have to react with similar auths, lest we be left behind. That is all Vegas have to say on the matter; though we of course wish our counterparts all the very best in their ventures. |

Forsaken applauds KOOP's decision, and backflips. I have to agree, this is what i've been thinking lately, but you've just wordeed it perfectly. Just because there are willing, deserving candidates, it doesnt mean that they should be Authed, just for the sake of authing them, if there is no need for another crew in the city. Again, this is just my view, and i mean no disrespect to any of the other Leaders. |

Slamming down his cigarette as he walked up to KOOP, DrTran smiled his cockneyed smile as he applauded what he had heard... Just as I was glad my words did not fall on deaf ears with Jimmy, I am also glad they had the same affect here. Even though I am loving the fact that young gangsters like myself are getting the chance around this great world of ours to stretch their wings, that doesn't mena that everyone gets that opportunity. First and foremost, a family is about the family, and since an auth must come from within a family, it must be determined that by authing someone, it does the family more good than harm. I applaud your attempt to take up my challenge, but do not feel that you failed it. You succeeded brillantly. The nature of the challenge was not just to get more CLs to auth their deserving members, the purpose of the challenge was to make the CLs think about who was deserving of the honor, and whether or not they could afford to give them that opportunity. Turning from where KOOP stood, DrTran flipped him three of his business cards which stuck out from between the spokes of each of the wheels of KOOP's unicycle... You and Acute are good men KOOP. Drop me a line sometime! ...but by the time he had pried the cards from the spokes, DrTran was gone, a flash from his holstered .308, and a puff of smoke the only signs he'd ever been there at all... |

This may see odd of me to say, not that I care what the lot of you think of me, but I, too, applaud your ability to respectfully decline. I could have stopped listening and that would have enough, but you, sir explained your reasons with respect and vigor. Harvey pauses for a moment, and looks up "vigor" in the dictionary to make sure it's the right adjective he wants... Yeah, we'll go with that. I'll reserve my opinions of the new auths until asked, but I will say that I am made happy to see a man such as KOOP be as respectful as I feared lacked in this community. |

He looked at the flier, then put it back down, then picked it up again. I thought that was the name of a band - the Vegas Rejects - or something. Or just a nickname for Vegas? Dunno. But then I came to see what it was all about and found this. Interesting. I will say that I think it's a good thing that Vegas isn't authing presently. Not because Vegas is bad or anything like that. Have you seen the streets? They are a bit crowded with men and women in bold suits. And while it's nice to see opportunity go around, I agree with the point that we are saturated at this point. Perhaps we are not yet over or supersaturated, but it's a very real possibility if things don't slow down a bit. The fact that we have a lot of new leaders out there means there will be a lot of new challenges for all crewleaders to face. Getting to know eachother, getting used to eachother's leading styles, etc, etc. So, I guess I appreciate Vegas standing down at this point, despite the fact that they have deserving members within their walls. |
