Sneakerland Amusement & Water Park Started by: Sneaker on Apr 09, '14 01:10

Sneaker had been busy as of late. Her intentions to bring a Theme Park to Detroit had ran into many stumbling blocks. First there was the unions who demanded everything be done by union workers. Then there was the problems acquiring the land and getting the proper permits. It was all becoming one massive headache but time was running out. She needed to get this place open and FAST!

Finally, construction began and a several months later it was complete.

Caricatures of Sneaker could be seen throughout the park. Her likeness was everywhere. There were mugs, hats, and t-shirts featuring the entire Dead Silence family. Most notably was the statue by the children's water area what featured Sneaker pointing her slingshot in the direction of Billy The Ball Buster Roller Coaster.

The amusement park would feature four roller coasters. The Billy's Ball Buster Roller Coaster would be a classic wooden roller coaster that would rise into the air nearly 90 feet and reach a top speed of 90 mph. It is truly the Godfather of Roller Coasters. Invincible Flash rose 70 feet into the air. While is was to be a wooden structure, the trains were stainless steel. The Rogue would be fashioned like similarly named coasters already operating. This wooden coaster was a classic one of a kind coaster that would rise to the height of 120 feet at its out point and reach speeds of 75 mph.  The Rogue was well known for being outside of the norm. The Reverend was a large, ominous coaster that had put the fear of god into many riders. The faithful returned to it time and time again.

The Amusement Park plans also included classic rides such as the
Tilt-A-Whirl, Shoot the Chutes, and a Wild Mouse (a small spinning coaster.)

Disorienting features were everywhere in Sneaker's Fun House. It would feature collapsing stairs, mazes of identical screen doors with only a few that opened, a series of rolling barrels, distorted mirrors all contained in a building with Crayola Crayon shaped pillars and a tigers head as the entrance.

The Serenity was a Firefly themed sci-fi ride that takes you through an elaborate adventure where there are run-ins with reavers. The crew helps you escape from the alliances of battle cruisers. This adventure ride is not for the feint at heart. Be ready for many twists and turns as the story unfolds along this ride.

The eerie music and screams emitting from WhiteGhost Haunted House can be heard right next door too Sneakers Fun House. Be prepared for the scare of your life! While we like to tell everyone they shall survive the encounter, more than one person has entered and never returned. It has been said that The Butchers reside within the Haunted House. The severed limbs and skeletons throughout were purported to be body parts of those who had wronged The Butchers. The entryway fountain was said to be flowing with real blood. People were often heard screaming for help in the upstairs bedrooms then all of a sudden everything went quiet as you walked in. Nothing could hide the blood seeing from the walls though. Be prepared to run for you life for you may just have to.

Other Attractions would include:

A classic Carousel.

  • A fairly new addition to amusement park rides called The Rotor was written into the plans. When The Rotor spun at a fast enough speed the floor dropped out and the centrifugal force held everyone against the wall.
  • A Tunnel of Love ride would be made to flow along a lazy man made river that would meander through a tranquil setting.
  • A grid for Bumper Cars to be built towards the back of the park with a Log Ride located right behind it. The Log Ride ended with a 35 foot sloped drop and a splash into the water. It would be a great way to cool off towards the end of the day.
  • A larger Ferris Wheel would be in the center of the park. It would rise 200 feet into the air and offer spectacular views of Chicago.
  • A steam powered train that ran through the park to carry visitors from one area to another.
  • An Arcade where one could play various games and win prizes. Amongst the games were a series of spinning dartboards with a Picture of Shermond's face on them. A special prize could be one for hitting Shermond right between the eyes.

Sneaker included several small parks where adults could relax and children could play within the park. While these areas were currently not built, various rides and amusements could be added in the future.

Throughout the park there would be vendor carts selling everything from hotdogs, to ice cream, drinks, hamburgers, corndogs, french fries, flavored crushed ice, and other fast food items to the public. Water fountains that sprang up from the ground would be in two locations so children and adults alike could enjoy the spray from them or even run through them to cool off. Drinking fountains would also be placed throughout the park.

One restaurant could be found where everyone could take a break from the attractions and dine. SamDecavalcante's Lobster Tail & Ale could be found along the main thoroughfare. This was a classic seafood restaurant that carried an extensive children's menu for the lil ones visiting the park. The restaurant had a full bar to take the parents edge off after spending the day with their kids. This restaurant was designed in classic mafia style with pictures of Godfathers adorning the walls. The house specialty and by far the most ordered thing on the menu was the classic Mob-Sters: A 2+ pound whole lobster with a Fedora  slightly askew on its head and a tommygun in its claw. This meal was partnered with a side of linguini in an alfredo sauce.

Short musicals lasting thirty minutes and shown every hour on the hour would be performed in a small theater. A concession stand would be available. Food and drinks were allowed. Mercury thought this would allow the weary parents a way to relax while the children enjoyed the show.

Sneaker's Water Park was at the very back of the park. This was where everyone of all ages came to cool off and have some fun in the water!

Kids enjoy the Soak Station, children's water playground with 68 features, including water jets, curtains and slides, plus bubbler jets and a six-foot tipping bucket; must be 56" or shorter and be accompanied by an adult. Or the Spray & Play, a water play area for toddlers, with 15 water jets and bubblers at zero depth.

Grab a tube and float on the River Ride, a 990-foot long moving river. Other water park features include:
•Triple Turn, a triple-flume waterslide. Hold on! This one is going to make it seem like the earth dropped from beneath you at the end! You will go careening off into the massive motion pool at the end!
•Terrific Tides wave-action pool.  The pool is heated, so even when it's cloudy or windy, the water's just fine. Grab an innertube and take a lazy trip through the river that meanders between and even under the various water attractions.

TwoTone Racer: Grab a matt and challenge five of your friends or other racers for a dueling head first plunge to the finish line. Racers line-up at a 45ft height and ride the swells through a checkered run-out. Make your way to the finish line and be the victor!

The Super Soaker Roller Coaster: Careen your way through this massive water roller coaster where the water jets propel you on a ride that ends in a series of ups and downs, twists and turns and two 45 degree drops! This ride is sure to be a blast!

The day came and the ribbon cutting ceremony commenced. Sneaker handed Billy the scissors and said a few words.

On this special occasion, Sneakerland is being opened to the publicy. Billy requested this park and we were lucky enough to get the majority of it done in time. Whether it's water  or rides you are looking for, we have it all right here! Enjoy yourselves and be sure to stop in Sam's Restaurant while you are here!
