A quaint little fellow with a look of the newly orphaned walks up to the elaborate set constructed for the mayoral speech later that day. Security stops him at the steps to the stage, but with a smile and a handful of cash stuck in their pocket he is allowed through. Stepping up to the podium in front of a captive audience, he begins his bold address to the crowd gathered for an entirely different spectacle. Ladies and gentlemen, I come to you today fully aware of the abnormal nature of my speech and the breach of etiquette it represents in many circles. Sometimes it is necessary. The people have a right to know certain things. So it is with this goal in mind that I am going to read to you directly from my father's journal, that you may understand better the decisions that were made last night. Tuesday, February the Fourth, Twelve Thirty AM, "I've just received an incredible tip from one of my many ears around these streets. He says that Phantom-Ghost is planning on warring me. I had thought we were on good terms, so this came as a surprise. Nonetheless, due diligence should be paid when something like this arises. Twelve Forty Five AM, "Scratch that. I can't possibly believe this tip. He says Hayley is in on the attack as well. Why would she stab me in the back like that? I'm her former RHM, and a man she had lobbied to get authed in the first place. Hell, Hayley isn't even the type to war: she had refused to aid in the take down of Mr_MFer, despite numerous justifications, merely because she was "too close to getting Godmother" status -- in her own words. It's a terrible shame. I trusted this man a lot, but this is just too much to ask me to believe." One Fifteen AM, "Interesting. My 'friend' has doubled down. Says the plans are 100% solidified, and the shots are coming as soon as I sign off. This is either a final push to get me to strike first, or I've got a serious problem. This entire situation doesn't make sense though. He knows I'm a cautious person, slow to act on such important matters as war. He can't expect me to strike first. But I still can't wrap my mind around what would possess Hayley to betray me like that. I'm going to defensive mode as a precautionary measure. I'm headed to New Orleans on the next flight." Two AM, "I'm at my mother's house, pretending to be asleep. The lights are out, and I'm relying on the dogs to wake me up if someone strikes. I'm 90% sure that this is all much ado about nothing, but I had wanted to visit my mother anyway so no big loss here. I've shored up my defenses as much as possible without arousing suspicion and there's nothing left to do but wait a few hours -- I'm still nearly certain this is all a put on." Three AM, "I can't believe it. The tip was real, and it possibly just saved a lot of our lives. I woke up a while ago to dogs barking and Phantom-Ghost running like a little girl off the property as fast as he could in an attempt not to be seen. Preliminary reports (a note scribbled in the margin indicates "later proved correct") are that Hayley shot my LHM. This is absurd. But I'm not going to take it laying down -- to arms! They shall pay for this stupid, arrogant betrayal. I had considered Hayley as close as family, and nearly everyone in her crew is a friend of mine. Many, many people dear to my heart are going to lose their lives tonight. What a shame." Morning, Feb 4, "This is painful. I've shot so many I care for and so many I care for have been shot. I only take comfort in the extreme dedication that all in my family have demonstrated during this troubling time, and take heart in the fact that my gun has stayed true to me. I pray this was not simply killing more on a fool's errand." Afternoon, Feb 4, "The snake Hayley has agreed, due to the slaughter of her upper ranks and her capo family, that she will sell out Phantom-Ghost in a peace settlement. Her partner in bloodshed will die but I must spare her. Fine. There has been enough bloodshed between us -- the one she says instigated the whole thing still must die, but this will be nothing more than a mop-up and no major concerns. I shall start planning my victory party post-haste. All I had ever wanted in this war was for it to end and to be left alone, and I've got that. Remarkable, though. She's gone from stabbing me in the back to stabbing Phantom-Ghost in the back in less than half a day." At this point, Sayyid looks up from his notes. That was the last entry. A freak accident, not enemy fire, resulted in my father's death and the liquidation of the homeless by formerly-neutral families which shall not be named. Take from these scattered notes what you will -- it is exactly what happened as honestly related from my father's point of view. It is not an attempt at persuasion and was never intended to be read this way, but instead is simply his notes jotted down for the sake of his own memory. For my own part, what I take from it is an insurmountable suspicion of the Chicago crews. There are also many questions in my mind about how the other families intend to work cooperatively with one who is ambitious enough to attempt to steal a city while another sleeps, and another who would make three blatant betrayals in under twenty hours. Stepping down from the grandiose stage he had bribed his way into, Sayyid wonders if and how long he will survive after a speech like this, having intentionally waited until the Gods stopped protecting him to make it. |

Dk listens to what the Journal said and he walks upto Sayyid and pats him on the back Hey man your father was a great person and i personally will say he did a great job in what he made New Orleans even with a fellow CL in his city being killed, then all the city was left to him to clean and he did his job great, dont you ever forget that Sayyid. Dk walks away after saying something to Sayyid, thinking of his Father's tradic and accidental death. |

| Thank you for sharing this with us. I would have expected the aggressor to come forward with an explanation for the attack, but we have waited and heard nothing. Not that it is Detroit business, but information of all kinds is a valuable asset. | |

Quite an interesting oration, Sayyid, and a confirmation of the mumblings already abounding about Chicago. Of course in this thing of ours, we speak of loyalties, but in reality, betrayal is the Queen piece on the chessboard of this life. Its a shame that so many of your family was put in harms way due to the backstabbing and snakelike maneuvers of former allies. If nothing else, a thought-provoking introspective of recent events, and perhaps a foreshadowing of changing tides and times to come. |

| A truely sad day on so many levels. I just have to keep thinking about how wonderful your father was and how he fought as hard as possible not only for himself but his whole family. | |

| Thank you for sharing your father's journal, Sayyid. It was very interesting, even to a young Earner like me who doesn't know much about mafia politics. I'm a little confused about something. Why would someone participate in an attack against their former Right Hand Man then later when he has the upper hand in the war that person backs out and blames it on another person? That seems like a lot of bad decision making, but like I said, I don't know very much about politics. | |

Maxie, for a young mobster as yourself, how do I say... you connect dots very well. Aftershock smiles. Chicago made a bad decision as a whole. |

| I don't know what happened, but I'm not quick to trust you yet. Most of our whole crew died in that attack. So until PG forgives you, the rest of the people in our crew can | |

| I'd like to point out your family were the aggressors of this chain of events Shadarrio. From a neutral perspective, I'd say the residents of New Orleans are the ones who have the right to forgive in this situation; not vice versa. | |

| Forgive me Shadarrio? I am the son of this man. I have done nothing but read a journal and opine on the whole situation from the perspective of one who lost a father. As far as forgiveness goes, why would anyone ever appologize for self defense? | |

PG forgive? Phantom-Ghost and Hayley were lowly backstabbers and aggressors in this conflict. Hayley even more so for backstabbing her former right hand, and then turning on Phantom-Ghost. It is the former family of Muqtada who should be the ones forgiving and regardless of the specific reason for why Muqtada fell, he fell because of the snakelike, irresponsible actions out of Chicago, and I doubt they'll be doing any forgiving any time soon. And beyond forgiving, few people are going to forget the idiocy and laughable leadership that started the whole conflict. |

| Is sometimes reading through the last journals that bring emotion to the street. All the waste of life and nothing actually gained. The question is what stops the same thing happening today, tommorow? | |
