| Giving Idle Members a 'Nudge' | Started by: Freddy on Jun 02, '14 21:40 |

Sorry if this has been posted before, but it is just an idea that came to me during recent events.
There are usually cases of crew members getting wacked for being idle for prolonged periods of time, sometimes new members join and don't come back on.
Whilst the game does send out reminders about being 'missed', a method for CLs to contact people might be a good idea. My proposal is that after X amount of time, say 2-4 weeks, a Crewleader can give a player a 'nudge' to try and bring them back to life which would send an Email to their personal account. The CL wouldn't need to know any of the details, but would have the facility to kick off an automatic message. |

I like the sound of this, probably would have to be a limit of a once per person kinda thing and it can be blocked by enabling "Unsubscribe from Emails" in the options. |

Yes, sorry, I should have expanded a little more before posting. My fault there. It would be on a per player basis, so you couldn't just mass mail everybody.
It should, in theory, be fairly simple to implement. I've no idea of the database structure for the game, but assuming every player has an ID (which we do when you check a profile) there could just be a new table with say an ID, timestamp, and contactable. Normalisation should allow for it to not impact the code base that much other than new stored procs. Bit of guess work there on implementation. |

i like this idea id do it with like 1-2 weeks though as usually people who are 2-4 weeks arent coming back anyway, the only issue is they would have to have verified their email address |

Sounds like a very good suggestion, both good for the crews and the community! I agree with TheTripleDeuce. 2-4 weeks will be way too long. would be nice if someone is 1 week IA, he gets a message automatically without the CL needing to do anything about it. So the CL also can't forgot to send out his or her notification. Maybe as an option you can enable/disable. |

I think its a good suggestion. Maybe make the IA receive a mail or two after one week of being one, even if the there is a valid reason for being inactive (known by the CL). This has to be automatic since the CL has more important jobs to do and might forgot to do this since this is also a hassle. |

I don't see how it is hassle at all, if the leader decides not to do it then that is fair enough, in my mind it is no more hassle than doing a crime or drug trade. I also disagree with it being an automatic thing, there is already an Email alert sent out (I'm assuming this is automatic), it would be better for the CL or the hands to make the conscious decision to bring that member back to the fold. They should be actively thinking that they want this person back afterall, it could be that the player wasn't very active at all, is a gangster and the leader decides to have them as target practice for somebody so would prefer them to not return. |

i dont think it should be automatic i think it should be left up to the CL, the last thing you need is a automatic messsage going out to someone who is gonna get killed for being a IA the next day anyway and them to log on dead just cause they got the mail and then not come back til they get another mail |
