| Decrease Jail Experience | Started by: Alexander on Jun 18, '14 16:10 |

I put forth the suggestion to decrease jail experience in half at least. As it stands now people can rank up far to quickly by jailing. In place of the decreased jail xp, increase street and business post xp. Mafia Returns is a text based role playing game, lets turn to focus back towards what it was founded up. I firmly believe if people received more experience for posting, they would be more active in the streets. Jailing would still provide a chance to rank, but not nearly as fast. |

Honestly this suggestion says that a good gangster must be vocal. Seeing as I disagree with that thought process I'm giving this a big negativo |

I also agree with the first part of your suggestion. I think that the jailing XP should go down. I think that it is wayy to easy to buy your rank rather than earn it. Not that if I could buy it I would. But, I think a large part of the game is that people are becoming too reliant on spending money on the game that we lose all challenge. But, to add the points to something like the forums would just be crazy in my opinion. I think something like we give random pieces of XP to random street post then that could be fun. 1 out of every 10 or 20 posts gets the number of XP that you get from jailing. And, we could even do something like every 250th street post gets a whole unit. But you never announce what number your on or who wins it. So it adds a mystery to it. Maybe just at the top of the forum have a street light red means not close, yellow means in the middle around 125, and green means within 200-250 so you just never know. Idk just a quick though on the subject. |

Not at all, what it suggest is that we take away the entire focus of being a 'click monkey' and refocus is on what the game was founded upon. There is more to this game than busting jails all day long so you can hit 60 units faster than the speed of light. Too many people are just abusing one feature of the game, so this offers a way to counter that and shift peoples focus.
You don't have to be Shakespeare to make make street post, you just have to be willing to put in any form of effort. |

I'll never understand why people have a problem with people opting to be a click monkey, as this is the way they enjoy to play the game and even though it differs from yours, who is to say it is wrong? The foundation of this game is the forums and with that, you and the people who love the forums can to your hearts content debate and act out various mafia activities in the streets and business districts and absolutely nobody will complain about it; if you do not believe that you are getting enough experience for these activities then perhaps you should take that up as a suggestion instead. There are multiple ways to enjoy this game, and each of them require time and effort. Even sitting around pressing the jail button for hours on end takes time, and who is to say that the experience for writing in the streets isn't already much greater than breaking out people from jail? I think this would be another question which needs to be answered first. Forcing people into the streets by diminishing the other parts of the game wouldn't work, as people are mainly not inside of the streets by choice as it is. Most people will never see the upside to roleplaying on a game where they're already roleplaying just by signing in, and even less will care enough to debate. Are you saying these people love the game less, just because they do not play it how it was once played years ago? |

I wholeheartedly agree with this Suggestion. I don't know if it should be cut in half, but I've been under the opinion it's been needing decreasing for a long ass time. People complain about the value of rank going down? Simple... Make it fucking harder to get units. |

I personally love this suggestion. Streets imo should have more XP attached - the effort some of us put in is FAR below the reward we got for it. This is the best way of increasing their value whilst not throwing ranking more off balance. |

What if experience from posting increases the higher you rank. So really for a low rank best way to rank would be doing jails which is a lowly task while posting still gives its usual points. But as a person ranks higher so made man and above then it seems more reasonable that jailing shouldn't give as much experience since role play Wise they should be above those kind of tasks. So to balance out the decrease in points for jailing increase the points for being vocal in the streets. Since higher ranks in the mafia did less physical work then lower grunts and relied more on delegation and the weight of their words. Just a thought. |

I like this idea Chelsea. It's a good balance of the two. I agree with you, lower ranks would do the petty chore of breaking their buddies or assigned people out of jail, while a Boss would get someone to do it for them (like a low ranked member). I have done maybe five jail breaks on this account, if I did more I would be a boss. At the same time I have quite a few posts, but I'm still a Capo, and I won't be min timing any of my ranks any time soon. I don't know the facts, I don't know how much experience is given for jails or posts, but a quick glance makes it seem like their is an imbalance. I understand where the naysayers come from. Not everyone is a writer, but this is a role playing game. If you just click around what role are you playing? |
