The future of user-owned Casinos Started by: TheSorryJew on Jul 08, '14 09:39

I came a little late to this game, and of course I went to see if you could own a casino!

While you can't own one at this time, you could in the past. It is not entirely clear to me why user-owned casinos where removed. But let me throw my ideas at you regardless..

1. The price of buying a casino should cost around 50 million. That seems quite high, but the profits will repay you within a few weeks. This heavy pricing would also urge players to co-own a casino with another player/their family. The profits would be dependent from how many shares a player has in the casino.

2. Casino has no money left? Make the casino temporarily admin-controlled, so the owners can recover and take over again. If there are no casino's in a city, there is always a admin-controlled casino availabe.

3. Unlimited number of casinos. All casino's can have a different casinos with different games and attractions. When you buy a casino, you should have the options of which games you want in your casino. These will cost in-game money. If the admins introduce new gambling games, this would really work well. You should also be able to invest in things in 'upgrades' *(restaurant, lounge etc.)  inside your casino, which will give a fixed profit per day.

4. Report casino revenues to the Mayor. If you don't want trouble with the mayor, you should report your revenues to the city. The city will then take a cut from the profits.

You also have the option to under report your revenue, but if you do this to much it will be discovered and you can land in jail. The possibility of discovery can be downplayed by bribing officials.

5. If you make 15 million a week, minus the city taking a cut, you will still make several million a week, or more. The initial investment will repay itself within a week, especially if you share the casino with your family. This way it will be a fun, profitable and exciting addition to the game.

So in short, I would really like the possibility to have casino's be player-owned again. The suggestions above are my humble ideas. I expect the admins and other players have plenty of their own :)

I'm in favor of this idea, I've been wondering why the user owned casinos were removed.  But your ideas here will add a bit more depth to the game for sure.

In the 7 months that the casinos have been admin owned only, the entire games worth of all games except for dice has brought in $328,294,500.  This means that if every city only had 1 casino, they would have earned $54,715,750 after 7 months - aka "just broke even"  Most owners would have been dead by now, and it would have been a financial failure for nearly every owner.  Dice simply moved a lot of the gamblers from the casinos to dice.

As far as dice goes, there are not many players who are financially able to support the swings that happen dice.  There are times when house is down 2k for the month in credits, I just don't think this is feasible for the users to support.

I could be wrong, so if some one has the financial backing of a few thousand credits and a 500 or so mill wants to take the risk and can demonstrate they can support the highs and lows so that the admins can step away, contact me.

What about instead of owning the casino you protect it? The crew that extorts the casino manager gets protection money at the end of the week.

Up to 3 crews in their home city can have a stake in a casino kind of like in GTA SA with Caligula's Palace and how the Forelli Sindacco and Leone families each shared the casino with Ken Rosenberg acting as the middle man between them.

If this were added to the game it would be interesting to see crews compete for control of the casino or sharing it with the other crews in the city. This also makes it easier because when casino's were player owned once a player died the casino went along with them with this if a CL dies that crew just loses their percentage of the casino.

^Now this is something that I think could be added, and make the game better!

That is indeed a very good idea, and something that could definitely be implemented.

Good thinking Brendan!

I think a combination of the ideas of TheSorryJew and Brendan_Filone could be an excellent additional feature to the game. Tino, however, is not allowed to own one. Ever. :P~

Report Post Tip

Brendan_Filone how do you see the money aspect of your idea working?

Report Post Tip

Its pretty sketchy and It can't really explain it that well but the crew with the most control of the casino ends up earning more while the crew with less control earns less.

Really like the idea of user protected casinos. It reminds me of a game I used to play City Struggle where gangs would control territories (The Casino,Docks, etc) Some crews would control the same territory but would have less influence one crew would control like 50% of it another would have like 20% or 10& and so on.

This would get rid of the fear of if a player dies a city loses access to the casino like It was back in the day. Instead if a CL dies that crew would loose its influence over the casino Also sharing it with the crews in your home city all three of them could share it equally or their loyalty would be tested and they would all fight over it. Would really make for some very interesting scenarios in this game.

Also one minor thing it would be nice if all the Casinos had different names in each city.
