On the bottom of every post there's a bar that says "Tip" on the far right. My suggestion is to put the following in that bar:
This way a post can be seen to have "support" without spamming "I agree." Plus, it's purely anonymous, so no one knows who or when the post was tipped. |

I like this idea, but at the same time I don't. Why I like this: it'll help cut down on the spam of "I agree" posts. Why I don't: people won't post at all. An "I agree" is better than nothing, but it's so lame. I'd love to see people bring an original idea or thought to add to a thread. I also understand that if people have already covered what my thoughts are, I don't want to sound like a piggy backer or a broken record by just saying the same things as others did before me. I think if something like this is welcomed by the community, I'd like to see it in forums such as OOC or game suggestions, not the streets. |

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I think a simple number in brackets could work (i.e. Tip (3)). I personally don't think that the amount is worth displaying - and I like minimalism! At the same time, I can understand FourLoko's point, that it could discourage people from voicing their own opinions. It would be good to hear what others think. |

I actually agree with FourLoko's sentiment, but I feel the Tip feature as a whole contributes to that problem more than making some minor tip information public. If we want to encourage meaningful posts both in support and against the original thread, then the tip feature should be removed. This is just a QoL addition for the sake of showing that tips are in support of an idea/thought. That way, if a thread has 5 tips but two posts against it, you can see a more accurate representation of public opinion. |
