| Rourkiest Rourke of all the Rourkes | Started by: Marietta on Feb 19, '09 18:44 |

The cries of rejoice and celebration had resounded throughout the mystical land known as America. A special day in the Underworld had finally arisen, one that had everyone tingling in happiness excitement. It was, however, doubly special for a certain group of people in This Thing of Ours, ones who had waited their entire lives for such glory to be bestowed upon their family name. Hard working and ever vigilant, they had toiled away, climbing the various ladders and reaching dizzying heights of fame that none of them had ever thought they would ever achieve. Yet after about fifty odd of them had hit Don, become a Crew Leader, Right Hand, Left Hand, sex slave, the life had become boring, complacent. There was, sadly, nowhere left for them to go. Today... however, today was a new day. Today marked the highest peaks of success for the family of non-related peoples known as the Rourkes. A processional was weaving its way through the streets of New Orleans, good old Digger and Abby leading with their baton twirling expertise. They moved together fluidly, having obviously spent many a day and night practicing, which really didn't say a lot about Abby but it spoke VOLUMES about Digger. Behind them marched the Rourke Memorial Band, brass instruments glinting in the rare sunlight that had come out to celebrate with all the people of the world this joyous occasion as people dressed in garb reminiscent of the departed Waffles, Randolfo, Mickey and company played an exuberant tune. Their marching nearly, but did not fully, drown out the music blasting out of the speakers of the sparkling clean black Dodge that followed behind them. The driver, Fork, did not look happy, yet the passengers sitting in the back waving happily did. Thomas and Rourkey held hands as they waved gaily at the crowds gathered on either sides of the road, their smiles showcasing the pleasure they were experiencing over the parade. Behind them trailed many other Rourke notables, such as SirSammy and Johnny, waving their banners sporting the message "GO ROURKE!" proudly, and skipping along with their brightly colored streamers and confetti. Yes, today was a great day for the new Rourke coronation ceremony. At the end of Fifth and Main a stage had been erected; tall, white and adorned by a totally not phallic looking podium. Behind said podium stood Marietta, Godfather of Detroit, JimmyTheLionHeart, Godfather of Philly, and Brian, clearly only up there for his family ties and no more. As the loud and rambunctious crowd slowed to a stop in front of the stage, Fu-Manju sprang forth, opening the door with the deepest of bows. Thomas popped out of the car, followed slowly by a weeping Rourkey, and sprinted up the steps of the stage. After Thomas shook hands with all of the other mobsters, Brian stepped forward, raising both of his hands upwards, his palms outstretched towards the sky. The crowd fell to a dead silence. Only the birds singing in the distance could be heard as everyone stood, their eyes fixed upon the Rourke as he mumbled incoherently to himself for some time. "In the name of Almighty Bombay," he started, his voice a hypnotic drone, "may all those who are gathered here today be forever blessed at this most holy of occasions. We called you all here today to celebrate with us the ascension of the Mightiest of all the Mighty Rourkes. Praise be to the Knucklepuck." "All its glory upon Thomas," the few, the proud, the Rourkes in the crowd stated, bowing their heads respectfully. Brian, satisfied with blessing, turned to Jimmy and Marietta, who stood on either side of Thomas and grabbed one of his hands. Together the trio stepped forward, the two existing Godfathers raising the man's arms as they did so. "Thomas Rourke, Rourkiest of all the Rourkes (and yes that includes Rourkey, assholes), do you understand what has been bestowed upon you this day?" Brian said, his face a mask of seriousness not usually befitting of the ebony demi-God. "Yes, I do," Thomas said with a grave nod, the corners of his mouth twitching into a smile. "You understand that this is a position you are not to take lightly? That you should always put forth your best efforts, to go above and beyond?" Brian continued. "I do." "Do you swear to always honor, cherish and love the Rourke Nation, for better and for worse, in sickness and in health despite the fact that you probably already think you're far superior to the rest of us (which you're totally not, btw. Outrageous.)?" "Yes." "Then accept this position, to have in the good times and bad, until death do you part." "Praise be to the Knucklepuck." Brian nodded to Marietta and Jimmy, who let go of Thomas' hands immediately. They fell to the man's sides only briefly before Brian grasped one of them between his own, nodding and once more muttering inaudibly. "Thomas Rourke," he finally said, looking the man in the eye, "I now pronounce you Godfather of New Orleans, and of the Rourke society. Congratulations, my brother, on this fine accomplishment." Ebony and Ivory embraced, the Godfathers behind them erupting into a large round of applause. "Well done! Congratulations!" they yelled in glee, tears springing forth from their eyes. The calm within the watching and waiting sea of people could not be contained. As if the volume on the radio were being turned up full blast, so was the noise that burst forth at the coronation of the Rourke. "Rourkes fly together! Long live the Rourkes!" the crowd cheered. Confetti flew, screams and whoops of delight pierced the air. It was a fine day in New Orleans, celebrating the newest Godfather and the Rourkiest Rourke of all the Rourkes. |

I don't know what's more worrying, a Rourke getting GodFather, or Thomas taking sloppy seconds with Rourkey. I say seconds, but we don't actually have an accurate estimate on how many people have entered Rourkey's "realms" in recent days. All kidding aside, congratulations. An esteemed rank to acquire, one which requires a lot of work and effort. |
