Carmine had heard about Godfather Thomas' promotions for sale. While he respected Thomas and his actions, he had to ask himself a question Has the Honor, Integrity and Value of La Cosa Nostra become watered down and cheap like local homemade booze? Being Made, becoming Capo, Consigliere, Boss and Don are things that make busting your ass and putting in work worth it. It makes you fight for your survival and appreciate not only where your at, but your crew and the one you kick up a percentage to. A new guy who's frustrated with his status decides instead of donating to his crew, to see if his promotion is in, then after a few robberies, couple times in jail, he decides he'll pay for that promotion and become Made. He doesn't realise what being Made means to someone, and obviously didn't deserve it yet if his Crew Leader didn't go give him his button. This makes me think. What happened to actually earning your promotion? Making money, becoming street wise and finally, that day comes when your Crew Leader tells you, "You are now Made, and one of the family forever." While the One-Million dollars for the actual promotion may seem exspensive, no matter what the rank is, it's become one of the cheapest things that was once priceless in this Thing Of Ours. |
