| Arrives the Rex | Started by: Sal_Giaquinto on Feb 24, '09 00:40 |

Like deep brass, the horn of the Easy Queen bellows through the evening fog. The ornate steamboat carries the man of hour - a titan of philanthropy, a gentleman of the common folk... these decorative and generous adjectives really stock up - much like the crowd gathered late, to witness his arrival. From beneath the deck of the ship appear an honor guard in historic Hellenistic garments; they carry flambeaux - illuminating the path. Next the lieutenants and the captain ,who are dressed in a similiar matter, they too assemble on the deck escorted now by the notes and chords of a marching band. In their hands are the banners and standards of the awaited monarch. For it is tonight they have gathered for the tardy King of the Carnival. After a magnificent fanfare, the king appears on center stage. Cheers roar across the pier - his banners wave vigorously through the air. Fireworks spread across the cloudy and mist filled sky - they're thundering scream welcomes yet another Rex. The prince of the hour marches across the ramp and unto the pier - Mayor Robert Maestri steps forward from the crowd, to meet and greet. He is surprised at first, as he recognizes the Rex to be none other than the suspected new head of the local syndicate. The two had meet on a few occasions - the honorable agreement of neutrality; live and let live. Regardless, to save safe - Maestri shook the hands of Sal Giaquinto, and offer him the keys to the city, a traditional gesture. It's imagery displayed much irony, given the circumstance, a mob boss leading the Rex krewe through the streets... but it was happening. "Thank you Mr. Maestri. I'll take good care of your city." He never intended to return the keys, he grinned ear to ear and waved at the gathered masses. |

| Thomas looked out over the streets of New Orleans from the balcony patio of a large piece of property. From the elevated position he could make out Sal Giaquinto being ordained with a city honor. To his right sat trusted confidante Fork. Together they were ready to shower anyone on the streets with beads. Of course Thomas was known to be a bit stingy so he expected Fork to remember the faces of the people who procured the beads from a heave up top and collect them the next morning. It was going to be a memorable Fat Tuesday, and Rourkes from around the globe would arrive at the event. | |

| Ezekiel tries to make his way through the crowd like a knife going through butter. He sees a large deck covered with people. The Marching Band plays loud as the music echos off the still water. The crowd is going crazy as it roars with cheer. Ezekiel knows what the deal is. The arrival of the Rex was an honor to witness. This Fat Tuesday is going to be one to live for. | |

Nikki looked over the balcony railing of the room she'd reserved for this event. There would be no sleeping anywhere near this neighborhood tonight, and since Sal insisted that the family be ready to entertain guests from all around the country, she figured being in the midst of the excitement would keep her up better than any coffee ever could. Even still, Brick walked through the doors behind her and joined her leaning on the railing, steaming cup of energy in his hand. Oh how the streets looked this time of year. Everywhere Nikki looked, were streamers of purple, green and gold, with confetti and inebriated early revelers littering the asphalt streets. Sal passed by and looked up to their window, and she responded with a warm smile and a wave before laughing and shaking her head. It was such a stark contrast seeing Sal Giaquinto, such a rigid herald of tradition so flamboyantly ushering in the largest party of the year. Praise be to Sal, Belle of the Ball, Nikki jokes, gently pulling the cup of coffee from Brick's hands. Tomorrow would be a very busy day indeed. |

Internet had been trying to follow Ezekiel's steps as the latter led the former through the mass of humanity. He gave up and resigned himself to taking photographs of the Rex from his vantage point. Aim, click, wind, aim, click, wind, change film; no problem there were at least ten rolls lining his pockets. He snapped shut the back of his trusty Leica and with a sigh, plunged into the crowd towards Sal and the mayor. |

BuddahDuck stands in the middle of the crowd watching the people go by as if he had no care in the world "What a magical day it is in the City of NewOrleans," as BuddahDuck thinks to himself. BuddahDuck quickly sees ThomasRourke the GodFather of NewOrleans and shouts out "HEY THERE Mr.Rourke!!!" BuddahDuck goes back to watching the magical Mardi Gras night after saying hello to Mr.Rouke. |
