Anonymous mobmails? Started by: Hanji on Sep 05, '14 10:42

Ehhh its just something I thought about. Maybe there could be a option next to the person's name you are sending the MM to that'll make you show up as "Anonymous" or "Unknown Sender" ?

Report Post Tip

While there is a HUGE potential for abuse within this feature....I would love it.

Report Post Tip

Not the abuse, the feature. Obv.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

I think it would be very easy to stop any kind of abuse. As long as admins can see who sent them then its fine?

It opens up a whole new side to the way people operate their families and their trust values..

May I also suggest a Witness could see 'the handover'

Something along the lines of "You witnessed Bre*d*n creeping around **bl*_*ig*ts place.."

It would lead to interesting interactions and perhaps also help protect abuse of the sytem?

Report Post Tip

We really do not have the staff to monitor all anonymous mails, nor will users always use rational judgement on when and when not to report a mail.  They need to be checked before they are "sent".

I would much rather a user start an anonymous mail sending business and be the one doing the legwork, then for us to have to manually approve mails as they come in we simply could not handle it in real time enough.

Report Post Tip

I get that but people generally won't use a user to do such things. Especially if the information within the mail direct affects the business managers family..?

The only other thing I can suggest is you make it go through a 'page' if possible? Much like the hitlist?

Put a 1 credit or $1 million fee to stop people sending 15 "Y0u r a poo hed!" Mails out.  It then gets stored in the building and a personal sent out to to the person saying "Word on the Street is that The Fat Controller has a piece of information for you" They then go to the page and open it? Or it could just be sent through the controllers inbox automatically so it would be easy to find any mails reported in the 'sent' folder and who put them in..

That would make it far easier to be monitored for abuse?

I just dont think users would ever truly trust another user nor would a user feel comfortable delivering a mail that would make it look like they are stirring. People would just threaten them with death, and then shoot them, as the business would be defunct if they blabbed.

I'm not really understanding the benefit this introduces though?

The only possible time I can think of where someone wishes to remain anonymous is perhaps when leaking sensitive information. If the person doesn't have the testicular fortitude to have their name beside their leak then why should they have the means to avoid being known?

This seems all too cowardly for me.

Though that said, I do actually like Brendan's method of the communication going through an NPC as though that individual is the "contact" and there being a price to pay to use that contact. It's interesting, but still I feel not something that would be of real benefit to the game.

Just my opinion though.

Report Post Tip

Maybe something the Brothel feature could use sometime?

I agree though Tyrion, really don't see the point. If you're gonna leak something, have the balls to put your name next to it and test your credibility.
