It doesn't seem long ago that that I underwent a quadruple heart bypass upon learning that our dear Acute had made the ascension to Don, and it doesn't seem too long that Acute himself underwent a quadruple heart bypass after consuming a staggering 73 Dutch Shortcakes in one sitting.
In fact, to continue the theme, it doesn't seem so long ago that the odds on Acute being the next Crewleader to die were an extremely tempting 2/1. (Well, that was a wasted 500k)
Understandably so then, it seems unlikely that Acute would ever make it this far, unlikely that he would ever progress beyond Don, magnificent though that achievement was. So it is with great difficulty that I convey to you the pride I feel on seeing him as the overlord of Vegas.
For months now, I have stood alongside him as his number two man, and in my time on these shores I can honestly say I've never had as much as fun, nor felt as inspired, as I have around this man and the Cuties, each of whom I am proud to call a brother (or sister) in arms.
Although not without fault, it is hard for me to entirely sum up the work he has done in Las Vegas. Although some policies have not been announced with the vigour they perhaps could've been in hindsight, and although some ideas have fallen by the wayside, I believe it can truly be said, without wanting to sleight other City Leaders, that Vegas has been the centre of innovation for some time.
Coupled with that fact that Acute is one of the most personable and caring Leaders I have ever worked with, a claim I'm sure any Cutie would come out here and verify, means that I can think of no person better suited for this prestigious position than our very own Don Acute, a man for whom the moniker 'Solomon of Sin City' might well be apt.
I realise that I'm rambling slightly, in fact this speech is a veritable haranguing, but rightly so. To be a Godfather is the ultimate, the thing I'm quite sure we've all dreamed of at some point in our lives. Just because we live in a prosperous era where the number of Godfathers has tripled under current stewardship, it does not mean we should be any less awed or humbled by another elite mobster joining the ranks of the select few.
Congratulations to a Boss, a friend and of course a mentor. Well done Acute, it has been a pleasure and an honour! |
