| A Night to Remember for my Best Friend Alphon | Started by: Quilly on Mar 01, '09 22:02 |

Quilly fed a pigeon a piece of bread left over from her dinner and flipped through this mornings news paper. The depression that was sweeping this nation was falling deeper and deeper each day. Unemployment, low. Crime, high. Quilly sighed at the news, as there was nothing to do except wait it out. On the front page there was something about that Philly/New Orleans tax. She flipped to the inside page and read the story. Five sentences in and Quilly had to throw the whole newspaper at the pigeon. A few seconds later she collected herself and smoothly picked up the paper off the ground and gave the pigeon another piece of bread. She flipped open that paper again to the Philadelphia and New Orleans tax. What...what are they thinking?? She mummbled to no one in particular. The Godfather of Philly was loosing more money on this deal then he's making. Now the reason most folks think this tax is silly is because when a Godfather controls a city he gets a tax from every person that enters that city and makes money on it. Not just his family members, or the mob boss below him family members. Anyone that enters Philly will be taxed on the money they make, that tax money will be sent to the Godfather. Two taxes....two taxes... Quilly grumbled to herself. It didn't make any sense to put another tax on the community in times like these. How did JimmyTheLionHeart expect people to make enough money to keep their house in their name, food in their kids mouths, gas in their car and then at the end of the day take out more hard earned cash (that was already once taxed by the Godfather if they had done business in Philly) and hand it over. She almost threw the paper at the ground again, but then quickly remembered that no one was paying the tax. The Godfather was actually loosing money as no one outside his family was entering his city. Way to throw yourself into a deeper depression Philly. Quilly said with a light chuckle. As she thought about it another question came into play. What was ThomasRourke doing about all of this with his "borrowed" city? After a moment or two of thinking about it she decided not to even get into that right now. She decided to head into a local pub and chill her nerves with a nice smooth drink. Upon entering the pub she saw a familiar face. As she approached him it didn't surprise her that he was being flattered by a few flapper girls. What's all the commotion about? Quilly asked smiling at her old friend. "Handsome Alphonse made Capo today!" One of the waitresses squealed. While another one chimed in. "It's so wonderful seeing such a great man with such a wonderful rank." Quilly smiled at the girls and also her friend. Alphonse! I'm so sorry, I've been so busy. Congratulations! Let me buy you a drink. Quilly said and snapped the bartender over to them. She leaned in to hug Alphonse and slipped a few large bills into his pocket. Then whispered into his ear. I know times are tough right now in Philly, here's something for you to get by. Congratulations again friend. |

We seem to have walked a very similar road. A meteoric rise through the ranks. I have had business dealings with this man and he is a very honest a prompt chap. Congratulations Sir Alphonse, the best of luck in the future TeQ tips his hat and raises his glass before taking a gulp of his Tequila |
