A Day in the Life. Started by: KingOfOnePercent on Mar 03, '09 16:48
Already in my admittedly short reign, a few curious little pumpkins have approached me asking what it's like to live the life of luxury. For this reason I have decided to publish a chronological record of the average day's events in Las Vegas. Please do not feel jealous if you are one of the many individuals not lucky enough to have a place in my splendid Kingdom!

If you enjoy this piece, please stay tuned for more subtle propaganda after the feature presentation! :o

04:27am - Well, I finally got to bed at daft o'clock. What had begun as a business meeting with Odetta had ended in a thoroughly drunken discussion on the merits and pitfalls of Wellington boots. I hope the fruit punch won't have a lasting affect, tomorrow is a busy day!.

09:04 - Woken by gunshots. Instinct taking over, I rolled off the bed and grabbed my pistol off the nightstand; only to feel slightly foolish as I realised it was only Archduke Abbey rifling off a sly shit in my personal bathroom, that absolute twat, he does have some nerve.

10:00 - Today looks like it will be a very productive one, breakfast has been eaten and crazy_horse has been sent a memo regarding the putrid state of my bathroom. I'd already caught up on most trivial matters whilst chowing down with Abbey and The_Keywork, so it was time to tackle more important matters. First stop - the family coffers.

10:07 - After a short walk across the courtyard, I reached the family vault and endured a 10 minute conversation with Die_Clause about the latest jazz band on the scene before we could get down to business. After jotting down the best financial performers according to the earnings and donations charts in my little black book, Die_Clause gave me a quick update on who had deposited money in my federal account for the upcoming poker game.

After a little fannying about, the scouward also handed me the payday records. You see, as I am a generous man, I allow my family to take paydays; but obviously generous does not equate to stupid, so I keep a record of who withdraws money and how frequently - lest I be taken for a ride!

11:54 - Deciding I had done quiet enough work for one morning, I stopped in at the coffeeshops. Although some may condemn it, I try to spend as much time there as I can, lest any news slip by without me noticing. Laughing, as usual, at the jokes, stories and rampant hypocrisy; I spent a wholly unproductive time throwing back Irish coffees. Ah well, not every visit has to be important!

13:49 - On my way to catch some food with Godfather Acute, I was accosted by -Skorpeon- to take part in a poker match (an almost hourly occurrence!), to which I readily agreed. Although I was quite peckish, I was not relishing spending 8 hours in a restaurant waiting for Acute to finish his meal, so I sent one of my bodyguards to the Bossman, informing him of the poker game and inviting him to join.

14:37 - As the game was sponsored by Vegas, I spent a good while collecting sponsorship money and finding an appropriate venue where we wouldn't get rumbled by the cops. To no avail, I went out first. Fuckin' flush. Still, that meant I had enough time to catch my flight to the Windy City. Every cloud...

21:00 - The flight took a good while, but I got a lot of things done on the way, of particular interest - Updated M.A.P rankings. I guess I should really get a lackey to do it for me; but it was Acute and I's brainchild and I don't like the idea of handing over the reins just yet. Hailing a taxi from the airport, I told the driver to take me down to Elk Grove. It wouldn't do to visit Chicago without seeing the Godfather after all!

21:50 - I left Guardian's compound feeling very hoarse, after a very heated discussion over the relative scumminess of cities in England. Remembering by this point that I'd skipped lunch, I realised I was quite ravenous - time to stop in a Gangstamann's place for a bite to eat. The salmon is good, incidentally.

22:30 - After I'd finished my meal, Abbey met up with me in the restaurant and we 'opened the family books', as we had a few openings for new Made Men. Made Man is no run of the mill promotion in my family; a clich I'll agree, but true nonetheless. You see, I expect more from my made man, as they all know. The fact that I let them deal with their own problems, that I grant them total freedom, obviously means I have to be that little more selective than I would be otherwise.

Looking down the lists for appropriate candidates, there were a few - but only a couple with the required vouching from a current Made Man. We decided they were deserving, and I made a mental note to invite them to my office for the sacred and hitherto unmentioned initiation rite.

23:45 - After washing down my meal with a few grappas, it was time for us to take the last flight back to Vegas, hopefully we'd get back before the speakeasys were shut up for the night!

Aahhh the old great "Day In The Life" stuff, these remind me of the CP days as this used to populate the streets on a regular basis.

Great read there sir, always interesting to see how another member of our community spends their day

Enjoyed that, good read and well composed as ever.

One small thing:

"21:50 - I left Guardian's compound feeling very hoarse, after a very heated discussion over the relative scumminess of cities in England."

Surely there was no need for it to be heated, wasn't it just like running through a checklist? Leeds, check, Bradford, check, Birmingham, check!!

I jest, of course, good work KOOP.
