Taxing Honesty Started by: BloodySpikeS on Sep 16, '14 00:51

Similar to how crew leaders have a list of their members and percentages of their voting honesty, I think it would be a good idea to add in some sort of feature for crew leaders to gauge how honest their members are in regards to paying their taxes, if taxes are set on. At this moment, leaders have no way to gauge this except by guessing.

I don’t think the gauging feature should be 100% accurate, because I don’t think a leader should be able to derive exactly what they’re owed (if a member does donate, and this is then reflected on say a percentage point, they can get a figure on it). However, I do think perhaps generalized levels such as: “Good Standing” “Mediocre Standing” “Poor Standing” might just suffice or even a color coded system.

Since the change in the tax system, leaders have a rough time judging what is actually owed to them. They also don’t always know how active their members are, depending on their own activity, and if they’re on at the same time as them.

A system like this will give crew leaders a tool to gauge honesty and to know which members aren’t kicking up (only what they’re supposed to), and since it wouldn’t be number based, it’d protect the members to a certain extent. As for it upholding role play standards, which is the reason the new tax system was beneficial, I don’t think it crosses any of those lines since it’s far enough removed from an exact statistical reading, and collections can still be handled in role play, if anything it helps aid that.

I really think this is something that should be taken on blind faith.  The member has faith that the leader is taking care of them, the leader should have faith that the member is taking care in return.  In real life you really wouldnt know what people are making, all you can do is ballpark "He puts in 25 hours a week at 40 units... I think hes good for 1.5 mill a week in taxes"  If they come in at 3, yay, they want to impress you.  If they come in at .5 then maybe talk and figure out more efficient work methods, or, find out why they are performing under par.

Report Post Tip

We don't know how many hours a player puts in realistically. If they're purely a hitter, they might be signed in for only a minute or two at a time, and then do long flights for profitable drug runs. We do know how many units they have, but that's not really a fair representation of how much they should be donating, because we don't know their activity, and other factors.

Perhaps another solution is something similar to what we have on Upper Structure, showing their activity.

I like that leaders can't know exactly whether or not they are being paid in full. I really don't want to see it revert to anything. If someone feels their leader isn't taking care of them or doing anything sufficient with the funds then it should be their right to limit what they pay upwards. I like it the way it is.

Report Post Tip

If their leader isnt taking care of them or "doing anything sufficient with the funds" then why stay with them? Also who deems what is sufficient, because a CL protecting you, and housing you seems like a sufficient enough reason to give money to them.

Report Post Tip

Every leader should be able to determine what they expect from their members without any additional tools.

If their own estimates are incorrect, they could always try talking to their guys and agreeing something with them.

Report Post Tip

If we can't have an honesty gauge, it might at least be interesting for leaders to see members hours in past week or day, or prowess or something.

Report Post Tip

I think an indicator like that of any sort would be beneficial.
