When people flocked to the streets, KingOfOnePercent was already waiting for them, thus negating the need for any lengthy pre-speech narrative describing how he got to where he was, when he got there; and what he did when he arrived. It is natural, in times of alliance peace and prosperity, that standards will slip. This is not a sleight to any Godfather, leader or captain; it is the simple truth. In times of uneasy truce where conflict could be around any corner, it is common sense that each person will strive more to ensure their own survival. But in times such as these, I personally feel complacency and lethargy are easy to fall into. It is for this reason that I have decided to announce a series of initiatives for my family. In short, it is time for me to stop resting on my laurels and admiring my suit and start acting in a manner befitting of a Mob Boss. With this in mind, I feel I should start with a certain old chestnut, respect. From now on, I don't care if you think you're being sartorial, comical, ironic, sarcastic or tongue in cheek, I will not tolerate disrespect of myself or my family name. Call me a killjoy, call me an egomaniac (actually don't, I'll kill you lolz!), I really don't care - disrespect is not something I will suffer, no matter how you try to dress it up. Obviously it is worth noting, however, that impartial journalism and founded criticism varies greatly from blatant disrespect. Keeping the respect theme, I would like to move onto another matter, my Made Men. This should go without saying, but if you yourself are a Made Guy or above in your own syndicate, you will treat my counterparts in the way you wish yourself to be treated. If you are not a Man Man or above, you will defer to my button men regardless of who you think you are or who's crew you belong to. If you feel you do have a genuine grievance with one of mine, you come directly to me - and you better hope you're not wasting my time with shit talking my family. I feel with the prolonged peace and increase in high rankers, we have arrived at the point where this honour has lost some of it's sheen and prestige; and I consider this is but a single step to take to try and restore that. Next up, my recruitment policy. If you ask me for an invite then slap in my face and join someone else, you will be shot. This may be regarded as hypocrisy considering I have the much vilified one line policy in place, and particularly since I make such a clear difference between associates and made men; but the truth is simple, for you to just waste my time with an empty invite request is not going to happen. Lastly, suicides and retiring. A flogged horse without doubt, but if you are in my family, regardless of whether you are Made or an associate, your life belongs to me. I will now regard a suicide or retirement as tantamount to an unauthed shot on a family member, and I will find the person responsible. For those not keeping up, I will punish members who desert my ranks by taking the life I feel I am owed from their next of kin. I realise quite a lot of this will be taken as extreme and even quite unnecessary, but frankly I care not. The mob was never a line of business for half measures anyway. |

Couldn't agree more, nothing says "F-U! Leader!" like asking for an invite and then refusing it, time wasting and extremely annoying, I for one would be more than happy to reinforce this rule should I ever become good enough to hold such a beautiful bold suit - I hope other leaders will come together and make this agreement for it to be authed to kill anyone who does this (with prior warning to the leader of course)
Normally when people suicide/retire, it's because they have had enough and can no longer handle this way of life, after taking their own lives, how can you be sure their next of kin will return? and if they do, how can you be so sure you'll know who they are? it's very easy to be in-cog around here and people will only be found if they wish to be, but all the same sir, I agree with this stance, taking the easy way out with or without permission is a complete waste of time and money the leader has spent training them, ranking them and showing them the way. |

| Regarding your latter point Frankie, it is of course impossible to 100% enforce - just as the illegal and unauthorised shooting proves to be, but that will be through lack of information - not effort on my part! | |

I said nothing about you lacking effort sir, I happen to think your doing a great job with your family considering the short time you have been in control. I believe nothings impossible, everything can be achieved if everyone pulls together and takes responsibility for their own actions, it's very easy to sit here and point blame on someone else for breaking a rule while you know damn well that you were just as much to blame, but should everyone take up their own responsibilities, then perhaps the large amount of random shootings will decrease, to expect them to completely vanish wouldn't be very practical however... Um, I'm unsure where I'm going with this, I think I have missed the point. :-/ |

So basically, what you are saying is "I'm going to do things the way they are supposed to be done". With exception to your stance on retirement or suicide, that is. How someone chooses to end their life is their own business. Of course, if it is "assisted suicide", then you would not be wrong for holding the shooter liable, but an innocent person who had nothing to do with it? I would like to hear you justify that, while keeping in mind that the person to follow in the dead guy's footsteps might not be a next of kin. (OOC: There is nothing stating that a new account has to be a blood relative of a former account. This is a fiction that we have created in order to refer to the person behind the keyboard, because most of us are too narrow minded to play in-character, as well as speak in-character) Other than that, I applaud you for going old school during a time when traditions are slipping away. Now the tough part, you have to back it up. |

(OOC: FFS I hate doing this. But yeah, although there has to be no offical tie, 99% of people who sign up come back as some descendant/reincarnation of their former account thanks to a lack of originality.) My justification is this Butt_Ox, I have stated that I consider a member of mine leaving our way of life without first consulting to me against the rules. For that reason alone, regardless of illogicality or foolishness, it should not be done. I believe that when you join my family, your life belongs to me. I will concede that this is an extremist point of view, but it works both ways. If push comes to shove (and it is warranted) I will defend of a member as if it were my own; in return I ask that they follow my rules, regardless of how ridiculous they seem. Arguably simply saying "Because I said so" is not justification to do something, but let's look at facts, as I hinted at earlier, 99(.9999)% of those who follow in the footsteps of the deceased are in some way a relative. As long as people follow on from their predecessors in such a fashion, they will be accountable for their mistakes. I've never advocated callous bloodline hunting for the sake of it, but in an instance where I cannot feasibly punish he who is actually guilty, then it's a case of the sins of the father being visited upon the son. Frankie, I'm sorry if I misled you somewhat, what I was trying to say that was for as long as people leave this life of crime altogether, or have a descendent return 'incog', then it will be impossible to 100% enforce this particular policy; just as for as long as witness statements go missing it is impossible to 100% enforce random wacking. |

My apologies sir, I misinterpreted your statement completely. Missing witness' and in-cog mafioso's are probably the only thing that cannot be tracked down and stomped on and even though it's a terrible thing, compared to everything else we can all do together to make this world a better place, it's just a mere step back in my opinion |

Excellent KOOP, this is to be applauded. That in itself is a sad statement, but it's a sign of just how far some aspects of this thing of ours have been allowed to slip. At last though, perhaps those new to our shores can genuinely pick up a thing or two about how this thing really works. I fully agree with the respect stance you are taking. This should be something that happens by default, though it sadly doesn't. Regarding recruitment and invites, you are again spot on. I cannot believe that some people consider it ok to take a scatter gun approach to finding a sponsor. They should be doing their work upfront, then contacting ONE family for an invite. To contact more is reckless, lazy and insulting. People should be held responsible for wasting a CLs time by not accepting an invite that they themselves requested. Finally, if someone is disrespectful and unappreciative enough to commit suicide and their son/daughter is stupid enough to set foot on these shores publicising their recent lineage, then they deserve all they get. If someone is looking for an exit route, the very least they should be doing is speaking with their boss, who has invested time and effort into them, first. Of course, should their immediate son/daughter not show up around here, then there is little you can really do. Nor should you if they're not immediate family of course. It's good to see that some fundamentals of this thing haven't been lost completely. For all the talk we see of new times or a new era already being upon us, which it is, there are certain crucial aspects of the mafia that should never change, no matter the leadership, and you've touched upon a couple of them here. |

I can only echo the comments of Butt_Ox and Calcium. Its sad state when some values are being lost, and further still when you have to come out in public and re-force them. Alas it is nice to see the foundations this world of ours has been built upon have not been swept away with the ushering of this so called "new era". I believe it was one of your fathers who publicised the fact that if you cant get a family member to vouch for you, then you would not receive and invite into your family. To this day i still believe that is an excellent way of recruitment and an excellent way to find honourable (a word that has been lost for sometime here) men/woman to fight by your side. I hope your family don't take for granted what an "old school" captain they have navigating the ship. Good luck to your family KingOfOnePercent |

Stands in the streets and applauds KOOP's message. Bravo! Bravo! mate. There isn't much else that can be said to what KOOP has already stated, but i do understand what he means by the lack of 'respect' in this thing of ours currently. I remember back in the days when we had a bit more turbulence, there were only a handful of Made's in each family. But then again we only really use to have 5 Crews. Back then Made was a mark hard to achieve, it took some people multiple accounts to get that far, now even Boss is a plausible goal. Not saying that there should be a bar on how far a person can rank, but now people Expect the made badge. I for one had a earner confront me for holding back their wise guy promo???...all signs of lack of respect in our new world. Do I have anything against any family having everyone Made and up? Absolutely not, but none the less the lack in quality shouldn't be justified by the abundance of quantity... Next up and I stand side by side with KOOP on this one. I am a Crew Leader, a Don, not to be overly proud, but that position comes with a certain expectation of Respect. If you come to me and ask me for an invite, you best have accepted it, because if you walk away from it, I consider that the height of disrespect. Even with 20+ Cl's now, its not a sellers market (the member) but still a buyers market. Just because half the crews are looking to fill their empty seats with members, doesn't mean that you can send out a Mass Mail to 5 CL's and then just shut the door on 4 of them. Do your due diligence and submit your application of acceptance wisely. Some would say i am being harsh to the newcomers, am I? We have a certain hierarchy that can easily be differentiated by just looking at the 60 sec list...so if someone comes and says "i didn't know" they knew. Because they didn't submit applications to Made man's, but they didn't know when they disrespected CL's?!?! Last one and I save the best for last. I had this written in my rulebooks before KOOP came out with this wonderful speech. Retirements & Suicides...when someone joins Reckless, from that day forward my hierarchy and I make it our job to make sure that individual is tutored, harnessed and developed into a mafioso that can proudly be called a member of Reckless. Some CL's have a different read on how they interact with their members, but that's how Reckless does business, every member is groomed to succeed! So when one decides that its their time to move on for whatever reason, at the very least i expect it as a courtesy that such member gets in contact with some member of the hierarchy, letting us know that they have made such a decision. Once there is communication then we formulate a way to settle the problem...I know half of you are saying "You just want the kill" and i humbly say that's not the point. The point is RESPECT If i welcome you into my house with open arms, i expect a good bye!!! Now i know where half of you disagree and ill address that too. Should someone die for not accepting your invitation and accepting someone else's? Should someone die because their father retired or committed suicide and now their kin is paying for the fathers sins? And enlight of all the evidence of what i provided above, WHY NOT? When someone disrespects a CL on the streets or in MM, we don't ask questions when shooting down a -48...then why now? Is this kind of disrespect any different? |

It is a bold and defining move that you have made, Signore. I feel if my position was more than a Captain, I would spout off a simmilar demand as to how my family and myself shoud be treated. We are at the point now where things can fall into a more tension soaked era, a time where jokes and pranks should be put aside and a more serious approach to our way of life brought into play. Indeed, a very wise move my friend, I hope other will follow in your steps and lay down some rules themselves. |

I think one of the points is, Louis, that these aren't necessarily rules that should need laying down. Things like this should be a way of life for any self respecting mafioso. It's great that KOOP is here laying it out, but sad that people need reminding. I echo your sentiments that others should be making sure their members uphold mafia traditions though. As Digger has shown, however, being a Captain does not mean you cannot voice an opinion and expect more from your members, or potential members. |

I like to save my own ideals and adgenda to within my family before trying to make an impression on a more grander scale. I also feel that these are things that people do need telling, because in a time where the whole country feels more like we're playing gangs and in school than being mafioso from the war-torn cities of a crippled American economy, people new to the shores will take things as they see them. And at the moment, I see weddings and trivial complaints littering the streets, this is something that is re-freshing, something that should be written on a sheet of paper and stapled to your face so it's the first thing you see when you wake up (Log on) |

| You are right that those who are completely new to these shores need to be informed. However, I'm really referring to those that are not new to this way of life but still seem to forget what this thing of ours is about, how it works, and/or let standards slip. | |

Leaning against a wall in a near by ally, Amac ponders all the he has heared while KOOP was talking and discussing with Frankie and of course Digger;s semi-speach I agree completly with all of the rules brought up by KOOP, it sounds to me like how a crew is supposed to be run but with so many new CL's that maybe havint been around to long I feel some of the rules are being overlooked a little too often. Im glad to see there are still Cl's out there that lay down the law the good ol' fashioned way, I am also glad I lucked out in joining such a great family myself. Applauds KOOP's excellent speach and walks away a little happier and with a little more hope than before |

These are an interesting set of rules. Not new to this thing of ours, just forgotten by many. It's unfortunate that it comes to the point where people have to be reminded of what should go unsaid - that if you are disrespectful, you will die. People that joined Sal before me, and who join me today are reminded when they enter the HQ. They are asked to live by this set of rules and it is clear that if they do not, their fate is to swim the the fishes. In terms of your rule about respect KOOP...I'm all for it and will enforce the same. But, to the extent possible - I will be damn sure that there has been verified disrespect. And I would hope that others would do the same. And I'd certainly like to be kept in the loop if one of my members is the one being disrespectful. I think I should be given the opportunity to take care of my own. It sends a message to my family that I am the one that is not tolerating the disrespect, whereas being killed by somebody in another family leaves the door open for other explanations. And, being one who enjoys satire and sarcasm, I wouldn't necessarily read a person's attempt to be humoous as disrespect, though sometimes it is disrespect hidden by a veil of attempted humor...the difficulty is figuring out what is disrespect and what is just being funny. As for retirement and suicide...meh, I don't care. You want to end your life, fine. I suppose I'd rather you end your life than take up space in my HQ. Though your kin should not expect an invite to join me. You, who decided to take your own life obviously concluded you were a waste of space, I'd have to assume the same about your kin. And as for asking me for an invite and accepting an invite from somebody else...yeah, that doesn't work for me. |
