If that is happening, I'm pretty sure it was due to the economic policies that drove us INTO a recession, not a recovery plan that is only a couple weeks old and will take plenty of time to stimulate the economy. More people should be students of history. It amazes me how often, throughout several intervals in history, that supply-side economics get sold to the public as a plan with widespread benefits. The entire theory fails to take into account human shortcomings. The idea that increasing the wealth of those who are already wealthy, which will supposedly lead to expansion in employment and production, has been proven false every time it has been applied. Of course, personal greed is not factored in, and rather than using the additional financial assets to create economic growth, the extra income is put into family trusts or spent on luxuries. The economy is stimulated through spending. If the middle and lower classes have no disposable income, then 95% of the population is not spending. The inevitable result is a stagnated economy. This is the result of conservative supply-side economics - a middle class with no disposable income. Without exception, it has always led to recession. |
