Respect, Honor, Loyalty Started by: LessThan on Mar 15, '09 10:05
LessThan took a walk to clear his mind. Lately it seems respect has been lost in this world and he can't seem to figure out what went wrong. Remenicing on the good ole' days when people knew their place in this world. Yes sir, no sir, to their elders, asking how high when told to jump. Seems that many have just lost their way. He takes a seat at a bench in the park. Sitting and thinking LessThan ponders out loud

"What happened, when did your hard work and loyalty lose all meaning to the associates of your family. Not much is asked of them, impossible goals are not set. Do they really think they are going to get anywhere in this world when they demand their lives been given on a silver platter."

LessThan turns his head to the ground and focuses his attention towards an ant colony.

"The ants have it down. The queen, the leader ofthe colony, only her existence keeps everyone else alive. Without her they are lost. All of the other ants have their jobs within their colony. They work hard everyday to make sure the queens existence is not short lived. There is no selfishnes. They know not to slack or it will be the end of their days. Even the smallest of ants has the greatest impact on a family. All of the hard work comes together to form a great colony. Why do they have it down, but us as humans cant quite get the handle of things."

A young mafioso approaches LessThan with a look of great sincerety

"Sir, may I?'

The young mafioso motions towards the seat next to LessThan

With a deep sigh "Go for it."

The young mafioso takes a moment to gather his thoughts then proceeds "Sir, I couldn't help but over hear you and well, i would just like to say I have noticed this myself. I personally believe that a lot of these lost souls have been misderected or have had no direction at all. I can't say I would blame this on the Crew Leaders they have resided with, but with the older members of the family. A lot of people seem to get a high ego and don't care to help the new guys, leaving them to fend for themselves. We just need a little guidance here and there sir."

LessThan sits for a moment with a blank look on his face. Could it really have been this simple at all? Does the problem truely not lie with the youngsters of this world but with the Buttoned officials of their families? LessThan quickly jumps out of his seat and promptly thanks the young mafioso for his insight.

MacLeod strides in front of the men offering their congratulations.

Not only do I consider rank-congratulatory threads a waste of people's time, but I hardly think that this is what he wanted when he stepped into the streets and raised this issue.

With regards to the intent of your discussion, I must say I somewhat disagree with you. It is obvious that men and women new to these shores should be helped. Any of us, when we think back to our earliest ancestors, can recall someone who offered their guidance. Or at least a model fit to be imitated. So yes, these people should be helped.

But you cannot lay the lack of loyalty and respect on the doorstep of those who actually possess these pillars of our community. If I meet a stupid, disrespectful mobster I'll usually try to help him. But it is not my fault if he continues down his path.

You cannot force people to change. We should offer guidance whenever possible, but it is not the burden of the enlightened if the dimwitted reject the ways of our world.

Macleod

I agree with you 100% on that matter Macleod, but I will stand with the issue that many mafioso are not being taught the way things work around here. They live their lives oblivious to the written and unwritten rules of society because no time was taken out of someones day to show them around. You can not change a disrespectful person, no, but there is always an attempt that can be made.

LessThan hangs his head for a moment, picking it up as he speaks

"People, I thank you but this is not the place to be congratualting me, I have come out here, openly in the streets, to address my concerns and to get others opinions on the matter, not for myself. I would like to keep the attention directed to the matter at hand."
