*Belushi took a walk in the streets of Chicago, the sky was grey it has been raining, the air smelled good, the fresh breeze cooled his head. It was a hard night, the last weeks were hard infact. Alot of bloodshed, many good people dead, gangwars over power, control, intrigues and the likes.. Business is in danger, when the mafia attracts too much heat with too many killings... he had thought alot of this, and wanted to share his opinion with other mafiosi, so he approached a group of earners who hang out in the park and started a conversation...* "Guys, do you also wonder why we think we have to rush to expand our businesses into every of these 6 cities? We are not even controlling our own cities, we have only very few people who are really a part of la Cosa Nostra, but nevertheless we tried to repeatingly open new branches in different cities of the United States. I think that the recent times have proven that stability needs to come first. This, in my opinion, means that we should concentrate on running our cities properly first, we should bigger the existing headquarters, maybe open up one more, to still be able to offer work for many gangsters that just started off in their carreer... And then, when we have high ranks, and stable business going in Chicago and in Los Angeles, we can see how to extend into more cities in order to achieve profits. Its not up to me to decide something like that, but those are just my thoughts... What do you think about it?" |

I completely agree that we should be concentrating on running our cities properly, but that has nothing to do with rank or the number of families. It has only to do with competence of leadership. We need new families to employ the many unsponsored and soon to be unsponsored Gangsters. Auths need to be decided based on the abilities of the candidate and the contribution the offer to this thing of ours. They should not be handed out easily because someone is a nice person who the authing leader gets along with. Other considerations should also be taken, such as whether the proposed auth is capable of bringing with them a core following, rather than having someone start off recruiting strangers off the streets and giving them positions of authority. An attempt should also be made to build a diverse panorama of families rather than slightly different versions of the same families. We are currently in the longest rebuilding process ever in our history. This isn't the first time that we all began as new immigrants and needed to build stability from that point. It is my opinion that the reason stability is taking so long to be achieved all comes down to the choices made in the authing process. |

My dear friend, Belushi... your point is completely valid and I am without disagreement. While profit and progress are beautiful things without the right prep and groundwork it can all be scattered in the wind. My friends, what drives us to rapidly expand? Is it personal ambition... partly so. I believe when business is booming, all the particular wiseguys, mademen and capos want to jump onto the bandwagoon. |

Mistakenly or otherwise the current leaders want to give the unsponsoreds a choice in their potential family heads. Having that choice may make those bloodlines that are disillusioned with the leadership of one of the existing families filter back through the woodwork. The rush is in trying to give them this chance before they make a decision and decide to go the legitimate route. It also may have saved some of the unsponsored from dying. That being said, I would personally like to see more leading from the leaders we have. It really is great dropping crews all over the place, really, I enjoy it. However perhaps it is time to holster those guns, take some deep breaths and to take advantage of the opportunity presenting itself. At least two of the leaders I can see with families now have bloodlines stretching back far into the past, so you'll appreciate just how rare these opportunities can be. When was the last time you've had a crew on a reliatively level playing field? Certainly not in the last year. I know how ridiculous this is given that you've been setup for a short period of time, forgive me. Alternatively ignore that, kill more things and as long as I'm not on the receiving end, I couldn't care less. |

Here's the problem. Currently there is one Right Hand walking these streets, and his Headquarters is closed. With so few leaders around, are unsponsored folks like me expected to become fodder for all the triggerhappy sponsored folks? My options are limited. |
