Deano, I can understand where your coming from. But you need to realize this game evolves much like life, Things change in time. Look at the American Mafia for instance, they’ve changed, and the reason is simple. If you don’t move with the times, and stay in the past. Then its for damn curtain you are not going to have a bright future. Now what did the Mafia do? What did the Gambinos the Bonannos the Colombos the Genovese and the Lucchese do? Did they sit their drinking there Anisette eating veal? Expiring as the old timers of back in the day? Well take a look right now, there still around today because they decided not to be stuck in the past and move with the times. Sure back in the day when Joe Blow got his brains blown out people dropped what they were doing to visit his corpse in the church. Now he’s lucky if his own mother shows up. Nobody has time for things; You will notice that about things,as they move through time things get fast. Much like the modern day mafia, shit John Gotti had two of his men show up at the funeral just two. Things change, you can either sit here shake your head and wonder, “where did it go” Or you can move with the times. As for the high-ranking members of the crime families I think this shows the prosperity between each city bears fruit to many great things. And I am more then certain that each person who achieves his or her rank as earned it in the eyes of there Crew leader. Sure the streets are crowded, but the people are happy. Is it all high paced action at every turn? No because The Cosa Nostra isn’t all Violence, It’s the power of negotiation, the negotiations between the cities much like the negotiations between the Five Families exist. After all were here to make money not butcher each other like animals. |

I still think some of it comes down to: Make yourself known so people mourn. Or more to the point. Make yourself known so people are less likely to pull the damn trigger. I think we'd all agree that it's easier to kill someone you don't know than it is to stick a gun in the face of a beloved associate or family member. |

TM, thank you for the completely OOC reply. To address your concerns in the only way possible (OOC), we ARE stuck in the past. The 1930's to be precise. Regardless of that fact, I would hardly consider the lowering of standards and the devaluation of our principles to be "progress". You can't polish a turd, but nice try. |

I wouldn't get too ahead of ourselves just yet Deano, I can think of a very recent example where a Don and a Godfather were quite forthcoming with their funeral disrespect. ( http://mafiareturns.com/comm/funeralhome.php?funeralid=55268 ) They make the rules I suppose... |

| I hardly think that Identity can be pointing his fingers around about disrespect, given his recent and huge lack of judgment in disrespecting a Godfather in the streets just hours ago. I even heard a rumor that he may have lost his rank over this... I cannot be too sure, however. My old eyes often play tricks on me. | |

Yes I did lose it, correctly so. I was completely in the wrong and I got carried away. Two wrongs don't make a right, however. |

As far as the killing of high rankers go; there are two instances i'd like to point out. The first being, said high ranker does something that goes against the family. Such would include; random wacking, disrespecting the family, making a fool of themselves etc... For the above, I fully back the killing/demoting/punishing of said Mafioso. Going against the family and random wackings are two things that I really despise. If you don't value your own life in this community, why should I offer my protection and backing in you? The second type being the mafioso who 'has nothing left to live for', or 'wants to give up and pass their knowledge onto their next of kin'. These are the same ones who achieve the ranks of Consigliere and Don, then go on to say 'well I can't rank anymore, so i'm just going to die'. This way is a complete and utter bull, and for this I think that death is too good for them. You are here to work and live for your family, not just to better your track record. There are always ways to work and be of service to your family. Afterall, without a family you'd be dead long before you even saw such high ranks. The life of a mobster is to be dedicated completely to his or her boss and family members. Only until you are granted with a syndicate of your own, should you be thinking of anything other than serving your boss. For this second type of mafioso, they shouldn't be killed. They should be demoted back to gangster and be told to learn respect and value for the life they lead. You can also throw in 'hey, now you have something to work for again'. It's completely embarrassing to see high ranking members, especially from Detroit, in the obits for this second reason. |
