| Sherminator; His Final Hours - PRTS 1&2 | Started by: ThomasRourke on Mar 26, '09 17:44 |

Thomas Rourke held a lantern up to his face as a group of children gather 'round. "Hello one, hello all. I'm here to preface a little story within a larger story. They call it the Chicago war, children. However, "war" is a bit too defined for what actually happened. In my close circle of friends, we just refer to it as "the one night we slaughtered a lot of people." Now in that night, people said I posted the greatest kill list to ever exist. I don't know if I can take all that credit, but I will say it was pretty fantastic. None of it would've been possible though without my first kill that night... The first kill of the war... The first Don kill in my career... A lot of firsts... So many firsts it bust an existential hymen. So begins the tale my little scamps... of the fall of Sherminator." Thomas Rourke inhaled from a tobacco pipe and exhaled a great cloud of smoke that almost seemed to carry everyone into a flashback. "There I was outside of the palacial hut that Sherminator lived in. It was me and my bodyguards, all carrying torches. Rumor had it that Sherminator had accumulated like 180 kills! You need to understand that was a lot in those days, kids. The villagers said he slept hanging upside down from his ceiling with one eye open so I knew the task before me wouldn't be easy." "I started by entering the residence which had a low hanging drape as a front door and moved until I was in the center of the room. THERE! In the corner! It was him... Sherminator. I withdrew my pistol and strafed from side to side to see if he would notice me as sure enough one eye was open. No movement. I aimed the pistol carefully at his heart and cocked the hammer back. The clicking noise woke him! As soon as the click notifying me that the hammer was in place had sounded a high pitched hissing was emitted from the Don Right Hand Man. I yelled out, 'OH FADGE' and fired a single shot straight into the heart... He was dead. At that exact moment several other Dons died too, but none so trophy-worthy as this! At least not until my second kill which easily trumped it." The tobacco smoke disappeared and Thomas ushered the entranced kids off to play stickball or some other fun activity. He nodded contentedly at himself, "Still got it, old boy." |

*sitting with the kids, hardly able to tell the difference between him and the kids* *joint falls from his lips* Wow! What a masterpiece. *picks his joint up and knocks a couple of kids over on his way out* *yelling at the kids* No I don't want to play with you!! |

To be honest, I think you are blowing things waaaaay out of proportion. This sounds like his last 3 minutes.. if even so. |

Quite disrespectful to the handful of Dons/CLs and other high rankers that dropped on your side of the fence there, I feel Thomas, don't you? Agreed right enough, anything else wouldn't fit with such a manly display of bravado. It's good to see who is at the forefront of the current state of this thing though, this was yet another speech that meets the standards you've set for yourself. It is genuinely a joy to watch everyone else aspire to these standards, falling just short of the finest of them all, yourself, of course. |

| Yes, I agree, and even though it's not roguing, I like to think that telling excellent stories can put me on the map. Remember the time Caligula kept missing? Yikes! | |

| Caligula did wipe the smirk off that unsavoury idiot's face though. His name escapes me but he was that extremely well protected Don. Then there was the excellent aftermath where that other person, who was days from Godfather, took a pro shot right in the mouth and perished. | |

| I don't recall HipposYawn... I remember Caligula missing Marietta... I remember Guardian missing Marietta... I recall Acute missing everything... I can't remember what you're saying though. It's hard to remember EVERYTHING at the top. The thin air from this altitude makes it tough to be cognizant of things. | |

| I see what is transpiring here. You are attempting to engage me in some one-upmanship with some cleverly disguised baiting. I had best just cut my losses and return to my lowly gutter before I am served beyond belief. 'Twas nice debating with you on this occasion. | |

| I'm just a Godfather telling a story as they are prone to do. You can get there one day champ. | |

I don't personally remember it, but I've read about it in my forefather's diaries Thomas. Most enjoyable for him as far as I can make out, once their two main targets were down. Of course, Marietta triumphed and fair play to her, she has built herself a STUNNING empire, coattail-hangers included. Hers is a name that will go down in history indeed and it's fully deserved. I'm not sure what your point is though....or are you claiming those are victories for yourself, because people missed her? Before I depart, no need to tell us that you yourself were missed. We know. Just like there's no need to tell us that you didn't hit with every shot you took either. We know. Like HipposYawn, I will depart before I get carried away. No need for us all to embarass ourselves out here. A final note, I find it utterly bizarre that someone with so much interest down at City Hall is seemingly trying to lower the standards in this thing of ours, just for the sake of constant oneupmanship. As the say down RL Avenue, meh it's not my money. |

I'm saying every victory of hers was a victory for everyone. Because look at the alternative of what could've happened and who would've been in charge. A victory for myself? Absolutely, because I don't have to get visited at Christmas time by the Ghost of What Could've Been and Jacob Marley like many other mobsters' bloodlines. The amusing thing is all these bloodlines that now complain are the same people you pointed out as coat-tail riders. Without Marietta none of them would've been anything, not Don, not Godfather, not anything. I mean Guardian would've been a glorified HSL without Marietta, Acute would've died unsponsored, Sherminator probably wouldn't have even been born. All these things made possible by the Godmother of Detroit... So Identity, when you point out coat-tail riders, by your insinuation it would be everyone BUT Marietta, because we've all been begotten from her victory over the sad and ill-conceived attempt in October. The difference between the coat-tails I "rode", and the coat-tails the October ancestors and their descendants "rode" in the form of Iris and Marietta is that I got to my destination. Their trains de-railed. Friends, countrypeople, look at Identity, look at me, which train would you take? All aboard. |

As he wanders away, he shouts back... "All these bloodlines that now complain"? No-one was complaining about much here, except about a ridiculous speech. If you are refer to recent instances of people vocalising their thoughts on the standards are here...you'll find there are people from a whole host of backgrounds complaining, even from your own HQ. I believe a certain saying goes; suck it up, it comes with the territory. Either that or I just made it up, sounds good either way. Thomas, do not forget, Acute and Guardian reached the pinnacle, like yourself. It's ended for them now, but it doesn't alter the fact they pulled in at the station...to use your train analogy. A station you are still sitting in. This is it Thomas, a month, 6 months...you all reached it. Just like them, just like every single leadership this thing has seen, you won't be stationed here forever. C'est la vie. Of course, they worked hard and lead families on their way up, the added value to this thing of ours. I wouldn't class them as coat-tail riders. Nor does it apply to "everyone but Marietta". Just some people, it's very evident who the people are that add nothing. You're being naive though, if you think these people wouldn't have reached a certain status in life, regardless of who led. As it happens though, Marietta did a wonderful job getting things back on track, better than my forefather could that's for sure. Kudos to her, I doff my cap, genuinely I do. She will be remembered not only for the rank, but for her achievements and the way she conducts herself. The same cannot be said of certain others. In days where the rank is not what is used to be, people are left to distinguish themselves through subtleties...wildly lacking in some quarters. By the way, no one mentioned October, it's just another in the bizarre line of things coming from your direction that this is still being referred to. You have been part of the family that has led this thing of ours for over 6 months, yet you still hark back, almost bitterly...as I say, bizarre. Still, rock on with the oneupmanship, you effectively came out here in a fit of misplaced excitement to say "and aren't I fab?". Your conduct tells a different story, it's a resounding no from impartial observers. With respect. |

"Oneupsmanship" from the person who claimed consistently, "Oh (Chicago) I've retired due to other obligations", yet sits here day after day provoking arguments from various members of the community. Well done on the Golden Years I guess. It's interesting that you mention me as someone who adds nothing to those around him, yet there you are, the person who preaches what he doesn't practice. Which I guess encompasses everything. "Oneupsmanship" from the person who seemingly has new bloodlines but the same story over and over like a broken record passed down from one generation to the next. You are as pathetic in my eyes as you are in the other Godfathers/mothers here, and that's a lot of eyes to be on one person. However you are still the champion of eight or nine people, but at least you're enjoying retirement. "Oneupsmanship" being the word of the day from the person who claims I keep talking about the October War and the failings of the attackers when no one mentioned it, yet can't stop speaking about ties to City Hall I have never once held while in the position of Godfather, which of course no one mentioned either. In some vain hope I guess you do this to try to besmirch me and tell others I shouldn't be acting this way or really any way. Why not? I have no stake in anything but my city, yet you seem stuck on "RL Ave." Godmother Marietta actually found it comical that you kept pointing out my non-existant ties to City Hall in deference to how I act, and that you didn't mention the exact same "ties" that rogue TheGentleman had with City Hall once in reply to my speech. But yet you "understood" his actions within his justification for going rogue. In America they say City Hall works for you the citizen, in your case they'd be doing overtime as I'm pretty sure they'd be unable to follow your train of thought on what is right and not right. "Oneupsmanship" has I guess become the theme of the day. I'm alive and Godfather, can't really top that. Indeed, aren't I fab? And yet there you are, becoming the Daera your forefathers once fought against out in the street sporting some fancy righteous indignation. The times they are a changin'. Either get the life your lineage told us all you were leaving for or come back and be of service to the community, because right now you are a bigger lump than all the Telkins and Clippers combined. |

I have my life back squire, evidenced by the fact I merely show face when at my place of work. It's a glorious thing...I mean, you can see the freedom it allows me. Glorious! You're right, I certainly am enjoying the retirement, it's great fun and there's plenty ammo with various plums running around the streets following the example set for them. I don't see how I champion for anyone except myself though, given that I've shown up in the coffee shops twice in 6 months. Yet I'm still miraculously speaking on behalf of people I barely know the names (OOC: in-game) of. You keep kidding yourself that there's a little band of people in a state of discontent, whilst everyone else is loving it. |

Oh, one last point. Since we're making comparisons apparently...your leadership style reminds me ever so much of a band of merry men who you apparently loathed when they reigned not long ago. Maybe they weren't this great evil after all? Or maybe they were? *Shrug* |

Bit off the mark there Identity. Over half the people's bloodlines in his family were not leaders and he never loathed them. Do some research before you put us under the spotlight pal. Now back off. |

It's a shame not many people get to achieve something so highly sought after as Godfather, it's similar to retirement. I wake up, answer mails left unread by Fork Rourke, run some drugs, and make speeches I find both colorful and amusing. See the most tickling part of your assessment of me is that I don't do anything. What exactly is it a Godfather is supposed to do? I know for a fact you wouldn't know. My dear friend Jimmy and former Boss Marietta also find things to make the time go by, each with a different approach. I personally like it nice and leisurely, which is why I let the other bold suits run the show in New York with myself acting as occasional organizer of contests or meetings. I think my biggest daily planner event has been helping to kill off a threat to the way of life around here. I'm relishing my semi-retirement as well, I devoted months to helping with the construction and maintenance of Detroit, you know, the city you praise so highly, so it's nice to be able to sit atop the world and enjoy the view. The thing that bothers me is that you speak highly of Godmother Marietta in public, maybe to help yourself seem less biased and lend more credence to your points in the argument, but she's shown me the things you've said to her in private, things not all that surprising given which group you support. Even if you refute these claims, she'd just back me up here publicly later. I think I've just oneupped myself. |
