Its actually not called Gaelic! Its a Gaelic language, but so is welsh, scottish, bretagne and Ceant. Gaeilge sure, but not Gaelic... on another note, im not a know-it-all or an asshole, Listowel eh? where did ya move to? |

Ah... well, I've only got Irish heritage... so I'm not born and raised... but I did live there for a spell and DO know some Irish language. :) I miss it a lot.... there's no one ever to speak it and well... Ireland is just awesome. Miss my home away from home. |

The majority of irish people can speak irish so to be true irish you can only speak english. Makes sense..... |

Ciaran makes a very good point. Irish is a dying language and even when I went to universtity there, as a foreigner learning the language, I ended up knowing much more Irish than my actual Irish friends knew. Go raibh maith agat, Ciaran... for pointing that out. |

We do really have to learn Irish but we do not speak it on a daily basis. So it may aswel be a foreign langauge. Des Bishop learned Irish for a few months and can now speak it. I am learning Irish for 16 years and still havent mastered it. |
