Marietta steps onto the streets. Her face is drawn taut, not warm and bright with good humor like usual. In the last few hours the woman had faced trials, at one point almost losing faith in human kind itself. After being melodramatic, however, the woman realized without fail that her men and women needed her now more than ever. With a steely gaze she walked towards the crossing of Main and Albert street.
The birds chirping their early, early morning song seemed to settle Marietta as she stopped, seeing only a few worn and sleepy citizens up at this hour. With a silent smile and wave of her hand she beckoned them over. Slowly they shuffled over, some stifling yawns while others fixed their bed-hair.
"Ladies and gentlemen," the Godfather spoke in a soft, croaky voice. She was tired. She was hurt. With a sigh she continued on.
"The last few hours have been exciting for many, but devastating for Detroit. My number one concern has always been, and always will be, with my city and those who reside and work within it's walls. It is with all these facts in mind that I have thought long and hard about whom should be granted the opportunity to purchase a HQ and to serve me faithfully in the Motor City."
"When the name of the man I am about to announce came up, I was pleasantly surprised that I had not thought of him forthwith. All my business dealings with him have been polite. He is a man of extreme respect for myself and the syndicate I have built. Though he is a little on the quiet side, I know that he will do his best to make myself, as well as the rest of our extended family, proud as my newest addition to the Detroit bolds."
"Pass the word along, ladies and gentlemen. Cruel is my newest addition to my captain regime. He will work directly for myself and my HQ, helping to shape my city back into the glorious place we once were, and with a little elbow grease can once again be."
"Let it be known he has my full support. Let it be known that I am proud. Let it be known that Cruel has my full congratulations. Please, spread the word. I thank you all for your time."
With a smile Marietta dismissed the crowd with a nod, all of the sleepy men and women traveling in different directions across the streets to pass along the message she had announced in the wee morning hours of Sunday. |
