The making of a made man. Started by: Sal_Giaquinto on Apr 08, '09 15:36
Traditionally, when a neophyte was ready - his superior would tell him to prepare himself, a nonchalance phrase "Dress in your best, kid." would open the way from the sacred rite.

The associate knew what was in store, a grand honor was about to be bestowed. Traditionally, the final test would be passed by the prospect taking part in a killing, or perhaps showing their willingness to kill. It was a surrender, setting aside instinct, reluctance and fear. The will of la famiglia is all that mattered and the don's orders couldn't be hindered by such natural tendencies.

You see, the threshold was about to be crossed. An associate could ultimately walk away from our thing with his life and some shroud of personal honor. A made man swears sacred pact. His blood, from the pricked trigger as the ink, the image of a saint the wax and the charred palm serves as the parchment. There was no turning back - one could never evade their commitment to the don of la famiglia after the parchment was sealed.

The prospect is typically brought to a basement or some secluded location, one which will not be compromised by the eyes and ears of an outsider, if the ceremony goes wrong - a location where a murder can be staged and a body prepared for the chop shop.

Many things can take place, the order - the specific words exchanged between a neophyte and the godfather/don who is leading the ceremony. The associate is offered the chance to decline the offer into the don's inner circle. The don would stress the commitment involved, rarely if ever is the offer declined by the associate - but it's necessary to offer such.

The location is without pentagrams and pagan icon, our thing is not a cult - but the images present are very significant. If one would take a visual inventory of what is often present at such a ceremony, you'd find a table with a knife and gun on it, a lit candle and the photograph of la famiglia's patron saint(s).

The knife and gun are the icons of the violent life, a mafioso lives - they represent how one will live and how they might one day die. The candidate is reminded of such, when he/she accepts the offer granted - they are asked to offer their trigger finger. The tip is pricked and blood drawn. The photograph of the patron saint is produced and introduced. Pressure is applied to the pricked trigger finger and blood sprinkles on the photo below it. The blood stain photo is then lit by the candle and placed in the candidate's hands.

A blood oath is sworn by the candidate as the photo burns in their hands. A new made man then walks our streets.

Not everyone will receive this ceremony, or even a variation of it. I hear folks complain about the decline of our thing. Alot of it starts here with the making of a made man.

High Soc listens, and then requests to speak for a moment

Truer words were never spoken. It seems as though many expect the Rank as though they'd expect a hot meal, as though they've already won the right, as if it were promised to them already. It is to be earned, otherwise it would be given Automatically.

We have the power to change history for better or worse, to alter the perception of the masses, simply by how we give out this most Prestigious of Titles. Yet, day in and day out, more of them climb off the boat, or stroll out of a cab, expecting free food, free shelter and a made man pin for their lapel. If we want change, we all have to change it together. If we want to better this place, it must be a team effort...We must come together to realize the mistakes of the past and prepare to change the future...

Because as Mr. Giaquinto said..."it starts here with the making of a Made Man."

Smiles and nods his head.. taking notes and recalling an example

Mr Sal, you speak the truth and its funny because I remember when you ran your criminal operation before you went into early retirement, a friend of mine became a Made Man in your family.

He spoke about the hard work he had to put in, the dedication and then lastly the long ceramony he had to attend to achieve his rank and position in your family. He was a bit shocked, and I was a bit shocked too as it has been a while since I have seen anything close to that happening.

Is it because in our world, it seems with more criminals in jail, those 7-11's giving us more experience as criminals along with the urge to promote, for the power and cash that things are given quick.. or because the effort is just not there anymore.

We can shape the future starting now, but it takes a strong unite between leaders in our world starting from the top, which was easier with fewer family heads but still not impossible. I remember reading about the 'CP', installing a system of references etc.. It was not liked, but for a while it changed the course of this world and how and who got promoted to the respect rank of Made Man before.. well.. the tides turned, for good or bad who knows.
