Changing your posts? Started by: BobTheBuilder on Apr 13, '09 23:38
Well, I have an idea that shouldn't be that hard to implement. Why can't you change your posts in the outside or OOC forums? I can understand the streets as it's not meant to be changeable to keep it realistic, but why can't you create it so that you may be able to change what you say and then have an hour or so to change it before the edit option is no longer available.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me?

from what iv heard the threads coding is kinda messed up as is so they dont really wanna mess with it.. but if they could adding an edit button might now be a bad idea!

This would be a good idea for the none RP forums, but sadly I can't see some users being mature about this.

Guy 1: "Guy 2 just called me xxxxxx"

Guy 2, after editing post: "No I didn't, go look!"

For us, that just creates more hassle :/

Ya iv seen that in other forums from other sites

And people could change Lotto numbers whoever won and stuff. Think about the money and the killings.

I'd say we should be able to edit in HQ and Back Alley only. Kinda negates the Guy 1 Guy 2 thing.

Also for HQ posts, I'd say only those with normal editing power(Wack Thread, Wack Reply etc.)

If it were to extend into the Outside forum I would say let all edited posts have the little "This post was edited at MM DD, YYYY at HH:mm."

I really think it would be most handy for Back Alleys and HQ though for those who write guides and such.

To be truly effective we would have to store a copy of all posts that were edited, so the guy 1 guy 2 thing wouldn't be an issue. The admins could simply look at the logs and say "Uhh, yea, he did call him xxxxxx" and then punishments could be incurred.

I think the editing of posts/threads in HQ should be implemented after something I just noticed today.

I decided to revamp a few threads in the HQ to notice everytime I deleted a post or thread, I would lose 2 counts of either or.  Once reposted I was technically -1 post or thread count.

Correct me if Im wrong but we base this world on activity and communication and in our HQ some threads are made to be revamped to keep it looking clean. In a matter of minutes I lost -5 posts even though I reposted them afterwords.

I know post and thread counts are not everything but maybe changing the count loss to -1 for the HQ could be a quick fix?
