| Boss Hitlist Notifications | Started by: Praefectus on Dec 14, '14 06:00 |

There's been a lot of controversy over the hit list lately, about people having their names repeatedly added. My suggestion is to add in notifications to a boss and their hands about a member of their crew being placed on the hit list. It fits in from a role-play perspective; a boss would know everything about the hit list, and everyone who is marked for death. They would be on the lookout for anyone from their own crew being placed on this list. |

Haha. I always thought my friends were joking. Back in the old days of .org, there was a crew role called "Hitlist watcher". My friends would tease me and say that was my crew job because, who would EVER do that job? I found out that was an actual crew job for many back in the old days. If a family is so concerned, surely they can ask there guys to keep a lookout? |

Yes, but wouldn't there be a notification? A little note, with all the others. 'A contact old you that XXXX has a price on his skull.' |

I think it would just be a waste of time when there are other things really. I don't really think this is worth automating when you can do it manually, you know? |

I must say I agree with Kyubey it isn't something that would really be worth the amount of time it would take to add. As well I don't see how this would make sense from an RP standpoint because many hits are kept between the lister and the person carrying out the hit (Rp of course, we have a shiny board) so in short, no. |

The script shouldn't be overtly difficult to write (with the caveat that I am a terrible coder.) But I think that it would be valid from a roleplay standpoint. A boss is supposed to have his thumb on the pulse of everything in the mafia world, how else is he supposed to know about his family? He'd know about the hits placed, especially in his city. |

You make a very valid point there about bosses Praefectus... but that doesn't necessarily mean that the task should be automated. There are lots of ways for a boss to achieve this. They can delegate it to their minions, they can be well enough connected to others that they'll be given a heads up from outside of their district or city or they could even do some work to stay on top of things. |

Despite your reasoning that this feature would be "valid from a roleplay standpoint" - the crux is that we are here to roleplay as a mobster: keeping an eye on the hitlist and informing family is a part of that experience. I am against this being automated. Interaction/communication with other players should always be paramount. A line needs to be drawn somewhere. |

Shouldn't be automated. Online hands/bosses could simply look at the online list when receiving a note and thus narrow down all subjects to still quite a few. Ofcourse no final answer is given, but atleast a few pointers are available. |
