The Loss of a Legend - GRHS Started by: RourkeyRourke on Apr 16, '09 11:45
RourkeyRourke had a rather large task in front of him today. After yesterday's brilliant construction of a School of Knowledge, Rourkey's masonry skills significantly improved and he began his most arduous task yet. Rourkey began his life long dream of building a mausoleum in case one of his friends perished in a most untimely fashion. Right as he was putting the final brick in place, SalvatoreLuciana came up behind him.

"Hey Rourkey! How are you...."

Salvatore's speech was cut short by a bullet that ripped through his skull, yet bounced harmlessly off the mighty mausoleum. Rourkey cradled the dead body and yelled at the heavens above.

"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON! YOU SAID THAT THERE WOULD BE NO MORE BLOODSHED!!!!"

In this instance, the moon did not reply. He was too busy checking out some stripper on the other side of the world. Rourkey quickly gathered his composure and placed the body of Salvatore in his newly-constructed mausoleum. For reference, it was located right in the middle of the street next to the School of Knowledge. Rourkey stood in front of his pulpit and began speaking to the 1,000,000,000,000,000 person crowd gathered to pay tributes to Mr. Luciana.

Friends, enemies, pimps, whores, ninjas, monkeys, and Marietta, we are gathered here today in the streets to pay tribute to SalvatoreLuciana after his death yesterday. Salvatore gave me a poem he wished me to read to all of you. Here it is:

Do not stand at my grave and weep;

I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there, I did not die.

Do not act out of vengeance for this man. DO NOT let yourself be ruined by his death. We can all join together knowing that SalvatoreLuciana is in a better place. He also left me another poem. What an odd coincidence:

Death is nothing at all

I have only slipped away into the next room

I am I, and you are you.

Whatever we were to each other

That we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name

Speak to me in the easy way which you always used

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes

We enjoyed together.

Play, smile, think of me, pray for me,

Let my name be ever the household word that

It always was.

Let it be spoken without effort,

Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant

It is the same as it ever was

There is absolutely unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind because I am

Out of sight? I am but waiting for you

For an interval

Somewhere very near

Just around the corner.

All is well.

This man is gone. In closing, I'd like to leave you all with a poem that I wrote:

You never said "I'm leaving"

You never said goodbye

You were gone before I knew it,

And only God knew why

A million times I needed you,

A million times I cried

If Love alone could have saved you,

You never would have died

In Life I loved you dearly

In death I love you still

In my heart you hold a place,

That no one could ever fill

It broke my heart to lose you,

But you didn't go alone

For part of me went with you,

The day God took you home.

I'd like to ask that you all hold your heads a little higher today in memory of SalvatoreLuciana. Thank you all for coming.

RourkeyRourke for president!

I'm all for remembrance, but the fact that you keep putting these places in the middle of the street makes me nervous.

You're planning a street race, aren't you? I knew it.
