As you pick up a local newspaper you read the front page "Hotels full as date nears" and continue to read as you head down the street. You read the whole article and get more excited and you just can't wait tell the grand opening and the news just keep on coming. You turn on the TV and they are talking about it, turn on the radio and they are talking about it. The world fair is getting so much buzz in the media you just know it will be a smash hit. You wake up on one of the most beautiful mornings you have had in a while. You take a shower, brush your teeth, grab a bite to eat and start to head towards Flushing Meadows-Corona Park with a few of your friends. You and two hundreds thousand others wait for the speech and the ribbing to be cut. Hello ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls. Welcome to the New York's 1939 World Fair. Today is the grand opening and you will be some of the first to walk through the entrance and have the time of your lives. I'm going to keep it short so I now bring you over to President Franklin D. Roosevelt that will now do the ribbon cutting. Cuts the ribbon and poses for the cameras and media You walk in and take a look around and quickly go to the help desk and get a map of the place. As you look at the map you notice they got exhibits that include time capsule, streamlined, The PRR S1 was put on display and more. This was even put into zones like the transportation zone, the communications and business systems zone, the food zone and so on. As you look at the map you notice the time capsule tube that containing writings by Albert Einstein and Thomas Mann, copies of Life Magazine, millions of pages of text on microfilm. It even has Camel cigarettes and much more but you role your eyes over to another exhibit. As you look at that exhibit it has streamlined pencil sharpener, a keyboard-operated speech synthesizer and one of the first televisions. As you keep looking at the map your eye starts to look at one thing on the map. As you eyes roll on the map you see The World of Tomorrow exhibit that shows 20 years into the future with automated highways. In fact the highways connects the nation together. It has the vast suburbs. As you continue to look at the map you see the PRR S1 class steam locomotive and you know you will have to make room in your day to go inside that. But with so many exhibit and the very long line for "The World of Tomorrow" that took some people hours to wait in line for you don't know how you will get everything in so you may have to come back on another day to see it all. |

Takes Strummer to the PRR S1 and walks inside and heads towards the back Just look at the seats, I sat on them shortly before we opened and they are so soft. You wouldn't want to get up once you take a seat. Takes a seat and opens a bottle of beer |
