PP reaches out his hand towards a bottle crate and the crates come flying through the mid-air and he hovers as the crate lands firmly underneath his feet He begins to speak to small crowd of mafioso gathered at one corner of the street... Maybe that has been asked or been talked about before but I wanted to ask and see for myself what everyone else thought and show my own views on this particular subject I'm about to talk about.Would you like to have a lot of power to run things the way you want?If you were put in the best position of the most powerful mafia boss, what would you do? What way would you run things? What would you change?I'm not the best candidate for leader and I doubt I would be the best person to be in charge of this thing of ours but I would run things a lot differently, I'm not the kind to be preoccupied with gaining power, but will accept it if it comes my way. I'm pretty content with being in a subordinate role, if that's the way it is. If I was in a higher role inside my crew I would readily accept input from my subordinates.There's some things I would do differently, the first thing is get rid of authorizations altogether, if someone really wanted to set up, I believe the should be allowed to do what they want. That's not saying I agree with rogues, I don't want someone just setting up and going wack crazy, but it would probably still happen. Though its not as If I don't have the power to take them down and protect my family at the same time. I just don't think I would be the kind of person who would like to auth someone, I think if they want to have a crew go ahead, I'm not going to stop them unless half way down the line they keep fucking up. If challenged as a Leader, I would feel anger and vengeance but it wouldn't last long, I can learn to forgive people and I wouldn't be the kind of leader to hit the HQ button unless it was really necessary, I would give them the first punishment and give myself time to think about what to do next, how to handle the situation, whether or not this person can learn to behave and not make the same mistake again, I'll give out a few last chances.It's a little different when its another crew leader or members attacking or doing something which disturbs my family, I will give them similar chances to behave and learn from their mistakes but I would be a little more cautious. If it were the leaders member I wouldn't pressure them into killing there member but I would tell them to deal with it as they see fit and make sure nothing like that happens again from this particular person.If at the time the place does get crowded with leaders I would probably consider removing the weak leaders, when I say weak I don't mean the ones with the least members or the worst defense. I'm talking about the leaders who don't run their families properly, who don't co-operate with the other leaders. There are certain things you have to do as a leader that show other families that you do actually care about your family and that you would do anything for them. There your family, friends and blood. No matter how the game is played if you don't have that you don't have nothing. |

So focusing more on your first point: Suddenly, your capos, consiglieres and hitters decide that, yes, they deserve a crew. They up sticks and fly across the country. Where does that leave your crew? How many people here think they deserve auth? Well, nearly everyone. How many people here actually deserve it. Well, It's a 100th of that number, tops. If we let anyone who wanted to set up, we'd have far too many leaders, too much confusion which would basically result in self perpetuating chaos and anarchy. Mafia is a form of organised crime. I like to place particular onus on the organised part. |

Whether myself or any one else got the posistion as the one who gets to run things, All I would do is make sure I didn't abuse my power. people these days seem to forget that the morepower you have the more responsible you have to be. If you make rules, follow them. If you don't make rules youshouldn't be in that position in the first place. Just adding my two cents. |

Not thats a good thing, but its not as if it put me at any disadvantage because every other leader has the same thing happening to them. People can always be replaced in this world, its the way things work anyway. If they think they deserve it and they don't, well, they would get there chance to prove there worth and then, we would see if they have what it takes or if they don't. It would also test the leader to see if they could keep rebuilding there structure and keeping in a strong powerful position. |

I could not disagree more. It is inherently wrong to try and apply such a concept to La Cosa Nostra. Having people set up when they want, and where they want does not test a leader in any sort of way. It shows him as a spineless paisan who can't keep control of his own members. It completely devalues the most esteemed position - that of Crewleader. |

So what we're looking at is pitting basic free enterprise principles against running a successful business model. In a perfect world we could see a system where one could set up and organize their own family providing they reach a certain status within our community. A system where everyone is equal and has the right to strike out on their own. Free of constraints and on that one way joyride to the top of the criminal world. Unfortunately this is not a perfect world. We have to deal with egos and personalities that are different then our own. Dealing with so many different Families in my opinion would equate to a total goatfuck of a situation. Clashes would occur, petty squabbles would escalate into all out war, chaos would reign. Not much different than having NO leaders in place. Constantly burying our friends one day, and then their sons and daughters the next. I may be overly sentimental but I do not like seeing the grave diggers profit from our misery. I'm old fashioned. I believe in the Four Pillars. I embrace the principles that this thing of ours are based upon. You work hard, make your bones, do your job, and protect your families interests. You move up and when the time comes you get your chance. There are no shortcuts in my way of thinking. You get the nod because you share the same vision and principles as your Boss, and are working together to reach a common goal. Having divergent ideas and opinions is to be expected, but working against each other is both contrarian and bad for business. That's what it all comes down to. This is a business. Losing revenue and market share to a revolving series of upstarts means that ones own business interests will be infringed upon. Your family have families of their own at home to take care of. Mouths to feed and bills to pay. It doesn't make sense to tell them that they will have to take a paycut and and bite the bullet because of flagging profits. You made a promise to your family to take care of them. Having their hard work become meaningless promotes distrust and disharmony. I realize that it can be terribly frustrating to be on the outside looking in. Having to put ones own ambitions and ideas aside to continue faithfully serving ones Boss. Some grow to resent their lot in life rather than to bring their ideas to their Boss for implementation for the good of the family. We all blaze our own trail. What gets you noticed can either be seen as a valuable addition or a detriment. My way is the path of honour. We currently have in place a system of unity, where all of the families have the same mindset and principles. We share a common goal and genuinely like each other. As different as we are, our aim is the same. We focus on enriching the lives of our citizens and bettering our community. Having a structure in place that is cooperative in nature promotes successful business practices and benefits us all. No, this isn't a perfect world. We don't walk these streets looking at the world through Rose coloured glasses. There are problems that need to be addressed and issues that are being looked into. Not perfect yet by any means but we're trying. Working together for the betterment of us all. |
