I think you only heard what you wanted to hear when you heard Mr Capone speak, you took one part of what he said and made a whole speacj about it ignoring the actual reasoning.

He stated NY had made threats against his city over trivial things and we have seen the 303 group follow up on these threats in the past.

As for South Philly's reasoning, 303's fate was sealed the the Kyubey was allowed to shoot one of our consigliere's for nothing more than whistling in the coffee shops. There was not even an apology given and our then Godfathers reaction to the news was "Fuck this shit I'm going out and getting drunk". It was at the point we knew 100% the Cantillon's ties the 303 group override him protecting his own district. There is a lot of other examples of this but that is the one that stands out the most.

As for the attention whoring, I couldn't really care any less. I come from a long line of over a decade of tradition. Wars are generally followed by reasons explaining. The whys in some sort of thinly vieled attempt at trying to make the victors sound better. What I did instead is come out to the streets and tell people exactly why, straight to the point and forward. If it was purely for Las Vegas's sake then you're right, it would be pointless. Considering how well liked and how amazing some of the people in New York were though, they did deserve to hear why they died.
