Dawn of the (un)dead - A halloween special Started by: MrTrilacci on Oct 31, '07 20:45
Darkness fell upon the city casting an eerie gloom around the streets. Trilacci shivered as the temperature dropped and quickened his pace, being sure to pull his overcoat tighter around him. "Bloody Chicago", he muttered, little knowing the irony of his comment. As he made a sharp right turn on his normal route home, he caught a movement in the shadows to his left. Apparantly he wasn't the only one walking home this evening...

He quickened his pace some more, his shooting arm making it's sub-concious movement closer to his trusty piece. It happened so fluidly now that it was almost second nature, not sharp and clumsily like so many of the youngsters around here. Trilacci made a few more turns, not because he needed to, but in the hopes to catch another glimse of whoever had been lurking in the shadows. On fourth Avenue, he got his chance, a pair of bloodshot eyes glimmering back at him under the glow of a street lamp, their bodies shrouded by the bushes. He paused, his own eyes locked with theirs. The bloodshot pair were shortly joined by another, matching colour and all. As a third made it's appearance, Trilacci edged backwards, clearly outgunned. Indeed, he needed wits this time, not shooting power. Quickly, he ran through the lay of the streets in his mind, there was a shortcut on 5th street he could take...that would have to suffice

With a lightning fast motion, he sent one bullet screaming towards into the shadows, it's ear splitting sound echoing proudly even against the howling wind which circled him. Assuming this would make them take cover and gift him a few valuable seconds, he turned and made haste to the shortcut he had in mind. His footsteps seemed to be as loud as though he were beating a drum, surely they could hear him. Even if not by his feet smacking the pavement, his heart was banging against his chest that it almost deafened him. Trilacci wasn't normally worried, it was often said that cold water flowed through his veins, but something about those eyes...and the similarity of them all...it wasn't natural

The next turn he took led onto where he needed to be, one last check over his shoulder seemed to indicate the all clear. His pace slowed and he faced forward once more...to be greated by the same eyes he'd left behind only minutes before. No escape. There were lights above him from the residents of appartments, perhaps the noise which was probably to follow would alert them? He could hope, still, there were always passers by on the main road, it wasn't so late that no one would be out.

Relax...just relax...you've got time, and you've got the smarts. You'll get outta this.

He drew his faithful gun once more and held it by his side but had time to do little else before a heavy door burst open to his left...

[OOC - Nothing more than a Halloween/Mafia RP, bit of fun to pass the time with. Try take it seriously (well as seriously as zombies go anyway) in writing style and depth but feel free to explore your imagination with the events :p]

.. Witchyx burst through the door, her heart racing, tears streaming down her face. Seeing the figure she raised her gun ...

"MrTrilacci, thank god it's you .."

Her mind in a turmoil with the last 30 mins ..

She had been on her way home from the local bar, having had a couple of drinks, nothing to write home about and she was definitely sober. The moon was out and it was a clear, slightly chilly October night. In fact it was All Hallows night. Suddenly it seemed to get darker, if that was at all possible. And an eerie chill descended. Witchyx shivered, for some reason she didn't feel comfortable now, she quickened her pace.

Making her way down the quiet lane she was on she made for the lights of the main street. She heard a rustling in the bushes beside her and her instinct told her not to stop, something was very wrong. She could hear movement from all directions now and groans. What was that awful groaning?

Gun shots rang out? She jumped, her heart beating so fast now she could barely breathe. She drew her gun and began to run. More gun shots, and screams, those awful bloody screams. She glanced back. In darkness she could see eyes, bloodshot and not from this world.

Finding herself in an alley, she fumbled and found a door, opening it she slipped inside. Trying to catch her breath she slid down the wall. Hearing a noise she looked up. "What the ....." she had screamed. It was one of her old bosses, her DEAD old bosses, standing before her, arms outstretched. "Braaaaaaiinnnnnssss" he had groaned. She had pushed him aside and ran for her life, finding a big heavy door; she pushed it open and stumbled out.

"MrTrilacci, thank god it's you .."

He shielded his eyes against the sudden glare of light which burst out the door, a questioning look etched on his face wondering what was to greet him. More trouble? God, like he didn't have enough to deal with already. But no, he was most supprised when witchy stumbled out.

What the devil are you doing here?! He asked Tis no night to be out on the stroll...

Witchy was an old friend of his, they went back years, as far as he could remember infact. Of all people to meet at a time like this, she was probably the most unexpected, but indeed, he couldn't think of someone he'd much rather have at his side at a time like this. "What to do though" he thought to himself. Well, they needed to find out what the hell these things were because it was evident they weren't leaving, perhaps best to take their chances in a shootout and put faith in their abilities. Besides, it was two against three now.

I hope that gun of yours is loaded, it's gonna be a busy night at this rate!

He slipped a few more rounds in his own as he spoke, spinning the barrel expertly before letting it softly click into place. Trilacci then raised it towards the first of the three infront of him, his eyes set with steely determination

Ready?

Witchy watched as Trilacci loaded his gun and she checked hers to make sure she had some rounds in it, barely able to do it her hands were shaking so much. Her palms were sweating and yet she was shivering violently. Still if there was one person she would have hoped for on the other side of that door, then this was that person. She was as safe as she was going to get.

"What are these things? Do you think we can actually kill them? I swear the one in there was my old boss but he's been dead over a week!" She shivered and nodded towards the door she had just come through.

Just at that moment there was a noise the other side of it.

"I'm ready" she replied.

Trilacci let out a slight chuckle, Who knows, but there's only one way to find out! Heh, the coolness was beginning to circulate his body once more, it was this ice-coldness which had made him famous, and many called him emotionless for it. He wasn't, he had emotions just like the next man, it was just that he chose to let his show when the time was right. Here, now, was not the time to show fear. It was time to be strong and stand his ground. Witch was nervous, he could sense it from her shivers but she'd get over that soon as the gun fight started. Her fears came to front early on but always got suppressed when needed. As he'd said, no one better to fight beside...

Lets give 'em hell

...and with a wink, he pulled the trigger, it's mechanism clicking effortlessly, resulting in a loud bang as the bullet was hurled forward, it's roar rebounding around the alley around him. The recoil was minimal, his piece specially modified by a contact of his to do so. The figure before him dropped, one clean hole just about visable in the dark beneath his left eye. It lay motionless and a surge of delight spread through his body, they could be killed. Trilacci laughed, a blood chilling laugh as only one who'd just slain a foe could manage - this wasn't normal for him, but heck, neither were the circumstances and he was just so damn happy to see that all hope wasn't lost

Beside him, witch was lining up her shot...
