Commentaries of Sal Giaquinto
De bello Chicago-New Orleans
These are chronicles and commentaries of the wars and diplomatic undertakings of Sal Giaquinto, faithful lieutenant of the Noble godfather Jimmy the Lion Heart.
This particular commentary is that of a war between Chicago and New Orleans during the reigns of Hayley the Elder and Muqtada.
These events occurred in Early February,
As far as the syndicates were concerned, North America was divided up in seven portions.
Philadelphia, did preside the kind godfather Jimmy The Lion Heart - whom I served as faithful lieutenant along side Otis Driftwood.
New York was led by Frankie Figs.
Detroit, did preside the generous godmother Marietta.
Chicago, was led by Hayley the Elder.
Los Angeles, led by Prozac.
Las Vegas, which was led by Acute.
New Orleans, led by the wise Muqtada.
For the most part, these organizations governed their respective cities with tactful diligence - any mutineers spreading cancerous subversion were punished and profit was to be made. Per usual, ambition stirs the human heart to strike a friend and unshackle his bounty. Is it better to be rich and without a friend? Would one rather have $100 then 100 friends? These are questions I oft ask my good lieutenants and self.
Philadelphia was an emerging city, graced by dawn of a new godfather. For any state to stand it requires proficient and strong allies that one can rely on. Our friends were never short as Detroit often provided a generous hand, both by the coffer and with sound advice. I also the necessity to befriend New Orleans, for Muqtada had a heart of tradition and a mind of wisdom. Such a man would be a grand ally and I felt it necessary to open talks and become friends. For amongst friends are alliances born.
For a time, Pax Marietta/Lionheart allowed growth and progress, but as earlier noted; ambition had her jealous eyes set on the jewel, which is New Orleans.
To better understand the course of events, one must understand the hierarchy of the Chicago syndicate: Hayley led Chicago as earlier noted. Also operating under her confines were leaders Phantom-Ghost, MyObessionWithFire and Draven Lynn.
Early morning, one could say nearly two o' clock - Phantom-Ghost and Chicago began to attack New Orleans; it's leader Muqtada and their profitable rackets. The initial assault left many of Muqtada's good men dead, while he remained yet alive - angered by the fibble harassment. His dear friend and lieutenant MikeHunt was amongst the dead. I grieved for the deceased, others who later met an undeserving end as my dear friend Carmelo. The two factions exchange volleys during the early morning and fought hard into the next day. Each fought bravely and boldly - the community watched in silence.
When I initially heard of the news, my friendship did blind me and I asked for permission to defend New Orleans against Chicago. In The Lion Heart's wisdom - he denied such a move, reminding me that though Chicago was clearly the aggressor they were as much friends to Philadelphia as was New Orleans. I apologized to my dear friend Muqtada - who assured me he would be victorious with or without our aid. Such a reply I saw as a challenge, as my heart was gravely troubled.
I could not bring my sword to the behalf of a friend; perhaps I could yield the olive branch instead.
Godfather Lion Heart approved such an approach and blessed my moderation to bring peace between the feuding parties, I remind you both friends to Philadelphia despite the blood works between each.
First, I did contact Hayley the Elder. I gave her my grievance and symphony for those she had lost to war. You see, for any side to
claim victory such an occasion would be 'Pyrrhic' I suggested perhaps a cease fire and talks would yield better results instead of continuing any fruitless fighting. Hayley agreed to meet with New Orleans and begin talks.
Next, I did approach the wise Muqtada. Who, I must say - with reason was more resistant to approach the table. After much convincing and assurance that I'd back his conditions at the table - Muqtada agreed to meet for talks.
At this point - MyObessionWithFire and Draven Lynn were already dead, but others rose to climb the horse and replace them.
Once at the table - Muqtada made known his conditions, the head of Phantom Ghost, whose role in the war seemed to cast a shadow over the other conspirators.
Hayley had shared her disappointment and frustration concerning the course of events and handed over Phantom Ghost. Once he was eliminated, a lasting peace could be established between the two fine cities, although history will never know as Muqtada died in a fatal unrelated accident after leaving the meeting.
Once Phantom, got word of the meeting, my role in moderation and assistance in his removal of some of his associates - he rightfully retaliated and fortunately failed. With Muqtada dead - and my own men left in the wind to deal with the consequences it seemed the occasion had brought more bad then good. A compromise was met and Phantom was allowed to carry live. Hayley the Elder nobly stepped down and retired to live her days under the wing of the generous godmother Marietta in Detroit as did her immediate followers led by Nicky. Full circle was drawn and the same generous hand of Detroit struck down the aggressors who remained in Chicago. The attempt on my life was at last, swiftly avenged.
These events shifted the political pendulum, which as history can testify influenced its course.
The righteous Nicky, lieutenant to Hayley The Elder would continue her work and preside over the family.
The virtuous Guardian with the blessing of the generous Marietta would setup shop in Chicago, establishing his own regime.
As for myself, I would later govern New Orleans on the behalf of the noble Jimmy The Lion Heart.
