He got another note. This one wasn't a hit, it was an invitation. "A banquet? I guess I'm attending a party this evening. I suppose I should get that Tux back out." He walks over to an old closet, locked tight. He slips the key in and opens the door to find a black jacket, with a dusty plastic covering. He pulls it out and tries it on. "Still fits." He finds his old hat, his invitation, and slips a small pistol in his coat on the way out. Minutes later, he arrives in the Grand Hall's driveway. He pulls in, hands his key to the valet and enters. He is greeted by the two men in red suits taking coats and hats for the guests. He hands off his hat but keeps his coat (and his gun) on him. Two more red-suited servicemen open massive oak doors to allow him to enter the beautiful Grand Hall. 12 Chandeliers hang down from the ceiling, which stands 50 feet from the floor. It has two levels, The Ballroom and The Office. The Office is at the end of the golden hallway, past all the stained-glass windows and armed guards. He walks past the well-dressed dancers to find the boss in his office. He knocks, the guards frisk him, and take his gun, and allow him to enter. "Sorry, my boys are always looking out for me. You'll get it back when you leave." The boss says as he takes a seat across from him. "All good, sir. I know protocol." He responds. "Yes, Will. That's the one thing you know the these new guys don't." The boss gets up and walks around and looks at his guards. "These new guards, they're big, strong, loyal, but they don't have the heart and soul of what I need done. You've proven yourself. Your history of hits, and Silviano. It proves you have what it takes to work for me again." "Thank you, signore." "That's why, I want you to handle a serious job. It's a group job, I'll let you put your own team together, and I need you to take out a few more guys. Silviano's uncle, Salvatore, is pissed. But he doesn't know who shot his nephew. All the witnesses reported was "Guy with a hat and a gun". Great work. So, we're going to attack him once he's calmed down. You'll have to take out 5 men plus Sal. You get them all, without any dirt coming back on me, you get $5,000,000 to divide between your team." Will takes a moment to think about the proposal, which, really didn't matter. If he hadn't taken the deal, he would've been killed on the spot. "I accept. I'll get my team together tomorrow and Friday. Hit on Monday." "Thanks, Will. You do this, you're set for the rest of your life." Will stands up as the guard gives him his gun back. He exits the way he came in, and started pondering who his team was going to be. "I'm gonna need an explosives expert, two gunmen, and a sniper. Shouldn't be too difficult to find these days. I'll just use the boss's old contacts." He walks into his home, hangs up his coat and hat, and starts writing.
Will sets the paper on his table, and heads up to bed for the night. "Tomorrow, we'll put it all together." |
