A day late and a dollar short is what Brick thought to himself as he was escorted from the Elegido HQ. Box in hand, Brick made his way to the street corner and dropped his box to the ground. It was filled with memories from his time as CEO of Elegido Corporation: some papers, a couple of poems written by his board of directors, some pictures of Duke tap dancing naked, and some empty bottles of Dr Pepper that he meant to take to the recycling plant to get a penny or two. He'd need all the money he could get now that he'd been removed as the CEO of Elegido. So Brick climbed onto an empty Dr Pepper crate and made his announcement. Nobody was really listening. It was business as usual over at Elegido, it just had a new CEO. And they weren't even known as Elegido anymore. Meh, "whatever" he thought as he yelled to nobody in particular. There's a new CEO in town. He's a Don by the name of duke5078. Everybody keeps asking me what the 5078 stands for. It's the number of times Duke has rejected me. That's it. Or maybe the number of times we've caught Duke tap dancing naked in the Elegido HQ. Anyway, the corporation must've liked that kind of thing because they've named Duke as my successor. Brick wiped a tear from his eye. All kidding aside, I give you duke5078, the newest leader in New Orleans. He's worked tremendously hard as a trusted member of my inner circle. He's defended this family and me time and time again, and has done so without question and with the utmost loyalty to Elegido. He's proven to me, and to the rest of Elegido that he belongs, and deserves his shot as CEO of the greatest corporation in the world. But he can't keep the name. That's still mine. I have all the legal documents to prove it. So, the corporation's name will be changing. duke has already moved into my office, and business is running as usual in the city. I congratulate Duke on a job well done, and wish him luck as he takes HIS family through the next phase of challenges that await us all. You are the man Duke, and it's been my privilege to work with you. It will continue to be my honor to share this city with you. Now, as for me. If I can't have Elegido, I've decided to take over the whole city. I shall be...Godfather of New Orleans. I just came up with that title. So, join me in congratulating duke5078 on a job well done thus far, and on wishing him well as he begins his new role within the city of New Orleans. Congrats Duke. You are it. |

Congratualtions Duke and Brick. Ive had the great pleasure of working with you brick and alongside duke now its it is time for me to work under duke and to learn from him. thank you brick for all you have done for me. |

Pickles holds a small brass replica of tippy and tappy and stares at the disaster area that was the Elegido HQ. Remodeling had been put off for so long she's practically gotten used to tripping over I-beams and piles of bricks. It seems strange somehow to think that she and Duke were now responsible for the building and the people inside. Duke, congratulations, I can't wait to see what good things you bring New Orleans. And Brick, I'm so glad we get to continue serving you! |
