| Slight changes to protection status and stuff. | Started by: Chris_Vaughn on Feb 25, '15 21:14 |

Firstly, as I touched on in a recent street speech, I think that Civilians, Thugs and gangsters without a family, should automatically lose their protection when they post in the streets. The reason for this, as I have said, is the streets are the domain of the mafia. People who talk in the streets draw attention to themselves. From a RP PoV, I look at the protection as being 'we can't see you' you are below our radar. Hence when they do something violent, such as shoot, or join a crew, it disappears. They are now known to the mob.
Of the back of this, I think Gangsters with -4h etc should also loose this status if they mug. The reason is, mugging is a violent crime. Mugging a Mobster is a particularly stupid violent crime. Again, if we look at this logically, Nicholas "Nicky" Santoro is walking down the street. He sees a criminal shaking down old ladies on his patch, and to teach him a lesson he lifts his wallet whilst he's other wise engaged. The Criminal turns around and attacks Nicky. What would Nicky do? Yeah you bet your ass, he'd beat the absolute shit out of that nobody. If he didn't kill him, it would be some kind of miracle.
Next on my list, the ranks. I think for the unsponsored folk, there should be 2 ranks. Thug and Criminal. Criminal = Gangster in all ways except 1, you have no affiliation with a crew/family. Join a family, your rank immediately changes to Gangster/Goomba/Earner. Simple. Its purely a cosmetic change, but again from a RP stance and a realism stance, it makes sense. Why would a criminal with no affiliation to the mob use mob titles?
So there you have it. Please feel free to dissect and comment as you see fit. |

I agree with the mugging needing certain criteria like pick pocketing. That makes a shit ton of sense. I also think protection should be taken away after doing certain acts. Posting in the streets being one. It may just have the newer members who have cycled to post something that they know will get them killed, from doing so. It'll mean they will be immediately held accountable for their actions/words, and others can react more appropriately if they need to. After all, what exactly is protecting them, if they have come out and made themselves known through a streets post? Good suggestions from a RP perspective, imo. The other suggestion I don't have much a thought on to be honest, although to be fair it does seem interesting. I just don't have an opinion to speak of. |

I actually like this suggestion, and agree with Scarfo about the RP perspective, This suggestion should be taken into serious consideration, things are getting a bit out of hand lately and this could help rein it in a little, and would provide more of the RP aspect which after all is what this game is supposed to be based on.. |

I had hoped this may have garnered a little more support, apparently not. |

"A Gangster can't PP a Don (You don't dare try and roll someone who outranks you that much) but that same gangster can beat the living snot out of a godfather with apparent ease." think about it this way, with this new feature high ranking players can pickpocket low ranking players with no repercussions whatsoever. 5k may seem like nothing to most returning players, but a new player 5k is a lot more than you realize. this could actually harm the game in two ways, firstly discouraging new players, secondly transforming a system in which you gain a small reward for no risk, this feature would just be abused by higher ranking members on lower ranking members. I well repeated statement by many people is that if you don't want to get mugged then don't pickpocket players. There are plenty of CA's just laying about.
"I think for the unsponsored folk, there should be 2 ranks." The ranking system should just be left alone or given a complete re-haul in terms of realism it's far off, and it should just be kept simple for new players.
If a 4h'er seriously posts something disrespectful in the streets just shoot them, if they start going over board the admin's will take care of it. |

I disagree with Mugging being made difficult. The point of mugging (in my view) is to defend yourself against someone that you do see in your pockets. Why should it be made difficult? Why should someone unfriendly have to put up with a pickpocketer? If I can see said person then perhaps they shouldn't have bothered pickpocketing me in the first place. I understand that people actually want to pickpocket and train this skill. On the other side there are those that do not wish to pickpocket at all or have people's hands in their pockets. There are achievements for pickpocketers as a reward for them training this skill. There is no reward for muggers under achievements, just what they manage to take from you. Being mugged is a choice you made when you decided to attempt someone unfriendly to the concept of having their money taken for whatever reason. I would like to see the PPing and Mugging being left as it is. |
